Job Description – Sales Head
Job Summary
The Sales Head is responsible for leading the organization's sales function by developing sales strategies, driving business growth, managing key customer accounts, and ensuring achievement of sales and collection targets. The role involves coordinating with Production, Design, Projects, Quality, Stores, and Dispatch departments to ensure smooth execution of customer requirements while expanding market presence and improving customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement annual and monthly sales strategies to achieve business growth and revenue targets.
- Lead, guide, and monitor the sales team to ensure achievement of individual and departmental KPIs.
- Identify new business opportunities in industrial, manufacturing, instrumentation, automation, pharmaceutical, veterinary, and engineering sectors.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with OEMs, distributors, EPC contractors, consultants, dealers, and institutional customers.
- Review customer enquiries, technical specifications, RFQs, and tenders in coordination with the Design and Technical teams.
- Ensure accurate preparation of techno-commercial quotations, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
- Coordinate with Production Planning to ensure timely execution and delivery of customer orders.
- Monitor order booking, order execution, dispatch status, and customer commitments.
- Review sales pipeline, enquiry conversion ratio, order status, and business development activities.
- Monitor sales performance, profitability, product-wise sales, and customer-wise revenue.
- Ensure timely collection of outstanding payments in coordination with the Accounts department.
- Analyse market trends, competitor activities, pricing strategies, and customer feedback to identify business opportunities.
- Participate in exhibitions, customer visits, technical presentations, and product demonstrations.
- Support new product launches by coordinating with Design, Production, and Marketing teams.
- Ensure proper maintenance of CRM, customer database, sales reports, forecasting, and MIS.
- Drive continuous improvement in sales processes, customer service, and business development activities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and customer requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
- MBA in Marketing or Sales Management is preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial/B2B sales within manufacturing, instrumentation, automation, or engineering industries.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience leading and managing a sales team.
- Strong knowledge of industrial products, technical sales, tendering, techno-commercial negotiations, and contract management.
- Experience in handling OEMs, distributors, EPC contractors, and institutional customers.
- Working knowledge of ERP/CRM systems, MS Excel, sales forecasting, and MIS reporting.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, analytical, and customer relationship management skill
