Job Description – AC & Refrigerator Technician
Summary
The AC & Refrigerator Technician will be responsible for the installation, inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of air conditioning systems, refrigeration units, deep freezers, cold rooms, and other cooling equipment across the company's factories, offices, and retail outlets. The role requires ensuring uninterrupted operation of all cooling systems to support business continuity and product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair air conditioners, refrigerators, deep freezers, water coolers, cold rooms, and other refrigeration equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance as per the maintenance schedule to minimize equipment breakdowns.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration faults and carry out timely repairs.
- Monitor refrigerant gas levels and carry out gas charging, leak detection, and leak rectification.
- Ensure proper functioning of compressors, condensers, evaporators, thermostats, motors, and electrical control panels.
- Attend emergency breakdown calls and restore equipment within the shortest possible time.
- Maintain temperature records of refrigeration equipment wherever required.
- Coordinate with store and procurement teams for spare parts and maintenance materials.
- Maintain service reports, maintenance logs, and equipment history records.
- Ensure compliance with electrical and refrigeration safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work areas after servicing.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Coordinate with external service vendors whenever specialized support is required.
- Ensure minimum downtime of refrigeration equipment used for food storage and production.
- Report recurring equipment issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Perform any other maintenance-related duties assigned by the reporting manager.
Eligibility
- ITI/Diploma/Certification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (RAC), Electrical, or a related technical field.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in servicing commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Experience in food manufacturing, hospitality, retail, or FMCG industries will be preferred.
- Knowledge of refrigeration cycles, electrical troubleshooting, compressors, refrigerants, and preventive maintenance practices.
Required Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills.
- Knowledge of split ACs, cassette ACs, ductable units, cold rooms, and commercial refrigeration systems.
- Ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and technical manuals.
- Basic knowledge of electrical safety and maintenance procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency breakdowns.
- Willingness to travel between factory, office, and retail outlets as per business requirements.
- Basic documentation and reporting skills.
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
