Job Title: Consultant – Senior HiveMQ MQTT Platform Administrator Location: India (Bangalore, Chennai, Vijayawada & Noida) Employment Type: Full-Time Experience Level: Senior Shape About the Role As part of Volvo’s Connectivity and Data Streaming Strategy, we are establishing an enterprise MQTT Service based on HiveMQ to enable secure, reliable, and scalable realtime data streaming between applications, users, and devices. We’re looking for a Senior HiveMQ MQTT Platform Administrator to design, deploy, and operate HiveMQ in Kubernetes Anywhere (onprem) across factory sites, owning platform reliability, security, observability, and ITSM service operations. The service will support two operational strategies: Traditional Broker Cluster Strategy — centralized HiveMQ broker cluster for controlled MQTT routing and centralized management. Edge Broker Strategy — distributed HiveMQ Edge brokers for localized processing and optimized latency. Shape Key Responsibilities Implementation Scope (Dev/Test/Prod on Kubernetes Anywhere – OnPrem in Factories) Design, install, and configure HiveMQ Broker Clusters and HiveMQ Edge brokers across Dev, Test, and Prod Kubernetes namespaces. Define and deploy High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) configurations, backup/recovery, and failover testing. Establish network, routing, and firewall configurations for MQTT transport (QoS, topic routing, bridge connections for Edge). Integrate with identity management (Volvo IAM), access control (RBAC/ACLs), logging/monitoring, and security scanning systems. Define NonFunctional Requirements (NFRs): performance, scalability, reliability, fault tolerance, latency budgets, and throughput targets. Prepare for service management integration: monitoring, ITSM processes, and Lifecycle Management (LCM). Managed Service Establishment Operate the MQTT Service as a Type 1 Managed Service with endtoend LCM (vulnerability management, patching/upgrade cycles, configuration backup/restore). Implement monitoring & observability: broker health, client connections, session management, topic throughput/latency, and resource utilization. Run Incident & Problem Management per Volvo ITSM processes; lead RCAs, corrective actions, and continuous improvement. Maintain Service Model & CMDB (ServiceNow) and define request items and SLA metrics. Ensure compliance with Volvo Standard ITSM and Service Operations best practices. Deliverables Requirements breakdown document validated with stakeholders. HighLevel Design (HLD) for Traditional and Edge strategies. Estimated runtime cost per environment and design option. Key Responsibilities
1. To be responsible for providing technical guidance to a team of developers, enhancing their technical capabilities and increasing productivity.
2. To conduct comprehensive code reviews, establish and oversee quality assurance processes, performance optimization , implementation of best practices and coding standards to ensure successful delivery of complex projects.
3. To ensure process compliance in the assigned module| and participate in technical discussions/review as a technical consultant for feasibility study (technical alternatives, best packages, supporting architecture best practices, technical risks, breakdown into components, estimations).
4. To collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, deliverables and accordingly prepare and submit status reports for minimizing exposure & closure of escalations.
