Job Summary
The PCB Designer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layouts for electronic products. The role involves working closely with hardware engineers, firmware engineers, production, and quality teams to ensure PCB designs meet functional, manufacturing, and quality requirements. The PCB Designer shall ensure compliance with industry standards while optimizing designs for cost, performance, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
PCB Design & Development
- Create, review, and optimize schematics and PCB layouts, including both 2-layer and multilayer boards, ensuring signal integrity and manufacturability.
- Create PCB layouts following electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing requirements.
- Prepare component placement and routing while maintaining signal integrity.
- Design high-speed, analog, digital, and power circuit layouts where applicable.
- Optimize PCB designs for manufacturability (DFM), assembly (DFA), and testing (DFT).
- Ensure proper trace width, spacing, impedance control, grounding, and thermal management.
- Solid understanding of communication interfaces related PCB designing process, including Gbps Ethernet, UART, SPI, I2C, RS485, CAN, and related lines.
- Hardware bring-up, debugging, validation, and testing of PCBs using standard lab equipment and systematic methodologies.
Documentation
- Generate manufacturing outputs including:
- Gerber Files
- NC Drill Files
- Pick & Place Files
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Assembly Drawings
- Fabrication Drawings
- PCB Stack-up Documentation
- Maintain revision history and design documentation.
Design Verification
- Perform Design Rule Check (DRC).
- Perform Electrical Rule Check (ERC).
- Verify PCB against design specifications.
- Resolve layout-related design issues before production release.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Hardware, Mechanical, Firmware, Production, Purchase, and Quality departments.
- Support prototype assembly and debugging activities.
- Provide engineering support during PCB manufacturing.
Continuous Improvement
- Improve existing PCB layouts for performance and cost optimization.
- Maintain component libraries and design standards.
- Stay updated with latest PCB technologies and industry standards.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, or equivalent.
- 2–5 years of PCB design experience (Freshers with excellent PCB design skills may also be considered).
- Experience in designing multi-layer PCBs.
- Strong understanding of electronic components and circuit functionality.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in PCB Design Software such as:
- Altium Designer
- KiCad
- OrCAD PCB Designer
- Eagle PCB
- EasyEDA (Preferred if applicable)
- Knowledge of:
- PCB Stack-up Design
- Signal Integrity
- EMI/EMC Design Guidelines
- High-Speed PCB Layout
- Power Distribution
- Thermal Management
- DFM / DFA / DFT Principles
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes for PCB fabrication and assembly.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- PCB designs completed within project timelines.
- Number of design revisions due to layout errors.
- First-pass manufacturing success rate.
- Compliance with DRC/ERC standards.
- Prototype success rate.
- Accuracy of design documentation.
- Support provided during production and prototype development.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with IPC standards (IPC-2221, IPC-7351, IPC-A-600).
- Knowledge of embedded systems and microcontroller-based designs.
- Experience with SMT and Through-Hole PCB design.
- Understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processes.
- Basic knowledge of electronics testing and debugging.
Authority & Responsibility
The PCB Designer is responsible for ensuring that PCB layouts are accurate, manufactural, and comply with company standards and customer requirements. The role is accountable for maintaining design quality, documentation accuracy, and supporting successful prototype and production builds while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Pay: Up to ₹50,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
