Project: Development of a new behavioural assessment instrument
Role Purpose
Strengthscape is looking for an experienced psychometrician to independently lead the scientific design, item development, review, pilot testing, and validation-readiness of a new behavioural assessment. The role requires strong assessment-development expertise, ethical judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision while collaborating with the internal leadership and product team.
Key Responsibilities
Research Design & Pilot Planning
- Design pilot studies for constructs moving out of construct review, including sampling strategy, administration protocol, and timeline
- Translate construct definitions and item banks into field-ready pilot instruments
- Draft cognitive interview protocols and support item validation sessions
Sampling & Data Collection
- Define sample size, composition, and recruitment criteria appropriate to each construct's population and stage-relevance
- Own participant recruitment coordination and screening against inclusion/exclusion criteria
- Monitor data collection in real time - track response rates, flag attrition, troubleshoot fielding issues as they arise
- Ensure sampling decisions account for known DIF/fairness risk factors (gender, language, urban/Tier 2/Tier 3, cohabitation status, etc.) flagged at construct level
Data Handling & Documentation
- Clean, structure, and QA incoming pilot data before handoff to analysis
- Maintain clear documentation of sampling decisions, deviations, and fielding notes for reproducibility
- Log pilot-stage observations (e.g., item confusion, comprehension issues, non-response patterns) for the analysis team
Required Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in research design, survey methodology, or applied social science research
- Strong grounding in sampling methodology and survey administration
- Working knowledge of data cleaning/QA practices (Excel and/or SPSS)
- Experience coordinating fieldwork or multi-stakeholder data collection
- Strong documentation habits — this role is the record-of-truth for how pilot data was gathered
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
- Exposure to psychometric constructs, item writing, or cognitive interviewing
- Familiarity with cultural sensitive sampling considerations
- Experience with Indian-context or cross-cultural relational/behavioral research
Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
