Job Summary:
We are seeking a Technical Assistant for the Information Technology (IT) Department to support laboratory operations, system maintenance, and technical activities. The candidate will assist faculty members in conducting practical sessions, support students during laboratory activities, maintain computer systems and networks, and ensure smooth functioning of IT infrastructure within the department. The role requires good technical knowledge in computer hardware, software, networking, and laboratory management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist faculty members in conducting practical classes and laboratory sessions for IT students.
- Prepare computer systems, software, networking devices, and laboratory equipment before practical sessions.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, operating systems, and application software.
- Support students during practical sessions, project work, and technical activities.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, networking, and system-related issues in laboratories.
- Ensure proper maintenance and smooth functioning of computer systems, printers, and networking equipment.
- Maintain records of laboratory inventory, software licenses, equipment usage, and maintenance schedules.
- Monitor laboratory activities and ensure adherence to laboratory policies and safety procedures.
- Assist in LAN setup, internet connectivity, system backups, and basic server maintenance activities.
- Support project demonstrations, workshops, seminars, and practical examinations conducted by the department.
- Coordinate with faculty members and department staff for smooth execution of laboratory activities.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and security of laboratory systems and equipment.
Desired Candidate Qualification
- Degree / Diploma in Computer Science (CS) / Information Technology (IT) / Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) – mandatory.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in IT support, computer laboratories, or technical support roles.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software installation, and troubleshooting.
- Basic understanding of networking concepts, LAN setup, and internet configuration.
- Ability to maintain computer systems and laboratory equipment effectively.
- Basic knowledge of operating systems, office applications, and system maintenance procedures.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to assist students during practical and project activities effectively.
- Basic documentation and record maintenance skills.
- Experience in educational institutions/polytechnic/engineering colleges is preferred.
