Position Summary
Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of passengers, staff, aircraft, and airport premises against unlawful interference. To perform security checks, surveillance, and enforcement of regulatory requirements to uphold national and international aviation security standards as per AVSEC order 05/2009 by BCAS.
Key Accountability
- Conduct security screening of passengers, staff, baggage, cargo, and mail.
- Monitor access control points to ensure only authorized persons access restricted areas.
- Operate screening equipment such as X-ray machines, ETDs (Explosive Trace Detectors), and metal detectors.
- Verify identity documents and access permits of personnel entering secure areas.
- Ensure compliance with airport security protocols and reporting violations.
- Respond quickly and effectively to security breaches, emergencies at the station.
- Liaise with airport authorities, law enforcement agencies, and emergency services when necessary.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare and maintain accurate security reports, logs, and incident records.
- Report suspicious activities, security breaches, and equipment malfunctions.
- Attend regular AVSEC training programs and drills.
- Stay updated on latest security procedures and regulatory requirements (ICAO, DGCA, BCAS standards).
- Provide courteous assistance to passengers and visitors while maintaining security vigilance.
- Handle passenger queries and assist in resolving security-related concerns.
- Conducting Audit and Inspection
- Conducting audit, inspection and security test at the station.
- Assist CSO to prepare compliance and audit report for BCAS and internal department.
- Revision of Manual and Security Programme
- Upgradation and revision of aviation manuals and the aircraft operator's security programme.
- Liaise with the DGCA for safety and security approvals.
- Any Other Duties, Including:
- Ensure implementation of the airline security programme meticulously in all operational area of airport.
- Maintain effective liaison with BCAS, law enforcing agencies, airport operator and stakeholders.
- Attending APSC (Airport Security Committee Meeting) on regular basis.
Qualification & Working Experience
- Diploma / Degree
- Must possess valid AVSEC Certification approved by Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).
- Audit Certification by BCAS is an added advantage.
- Bachelor's degree in Security Management, or a related field with 3 years of working experience.
- Diploma in Security Management, or a related field with 5 years of working experience
Areas of Experience
Experience in Aviation security operations is preferred
