Job Description: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Gurugram
Department: R&D
Relevant Experience: 4+ years (proven track record of delivering products from ideas to
the market)
Position Overview
We are looking for a high-energy, versatile Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives on the
journey from a "napkin sketch" to a retail shelf. This isn't just a role for a CAD specialist; we need a
"Product Architect" with a proven track record of shipping successful products. You will own the entire
development lifecycle, managing not only the technical specifications but also the strategic vendor
relationships and production timelines that make a product commercially viable.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Product Ownership: Lead the mechanical development process from initial
blue-sky brainstorming through design, prototyping, and mass production.
Global Vendor Management: Leverage your existing network of manufacturers and
suppliers to source components, negotiate lead times, and ensure quality standards are
met.
Full Production Lifecycle: Oversee DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and DFA (Design
for Assembly) phases, working on-site or remotely with factory partners to troubleshoot
assembly line issues.
Cross-Functional Versatility: Act as a "force multiplier" by stepping into different roles as
needed—whether that’s assisting with supply chain logistics, helping with quality assurance
testing, or refining packaging design.
Technical Excellence: Create robust 3D models and production-ready 2D drawings with
strict adherence to GD&T standards.
Risk Mitigation: Identify potential production bottlenecks early in the design phase and
implement creative engineering workarounds to keep projects on schedule.
Required Skills & Qualifications
The Track Record: 4+ years of experience with at least 3 full product-to-market cycles
successfully completed.
Manufacturing Mastery: Deep knowledge of high-volume production (Injection molding,
casting, extrusion, and CNC) and the ability to manage the tooling process.
Prototyping: Build and test physical prototypes to verify designs, troubleshoot failures, and
iterate on performance.
Manufacturing Support: Create detailed 2D technical drawings with appropriate GD&T
(Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to ensure parts are manufacturable and fit
correctly.
Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers, industrial designers, and project
managers to ensure seamless system integration.
Vendor Network: A proven history of managing external vendors; candidates with an
active contact list of domestic or international manufacturers are highly preferred.
Agile Mindset: Ability to pivot quickly in a fast-paced environment and take on
responsibilities outside the traditional "mechanical" scope to ensure project success.
Tools of the Trade: Expert proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks/Creo) and experience with
PLM systems to manage complex Bill of Materials (BOM).
Preferred Attributes
The "Generalist" Streak: Experience in a startup or small-team environment where you
wore "multiple hats."
Knowledge of industry standards (ISO, ASME, or ASTM).
Leadership: Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading small project teams.
Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹1,000,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- Leave encashment
- Paid sick time
- Paid time off
- Provident Fund
