Job Summary
The CNC & VMC Operator is responsible for operating, setting up, and monitoring CNC (Computer Numerical Control) and VMC (Vertical Machining Center) machines to manufacture precision components, dies, fixtures, and tooling as per engineering drawings and quality standards. The role ensures optimum machine utilization, adherence to safety standards, and timely completion of production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate CNC and VMC machines as per production schedules.
- Perform machine setup, tool changing, offset correction, and parameter adjustments.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, process sheets, and work instructions.
- Ensure components are machined within specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Conduct in-process inspections using measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
- Monitor machine performance and report abnormalities or breakdowns to the supervisor.
- Ensure proper clamping, alignment, and loading/unloading of workpieces.
- Maintain production records, inspection reports, and machine logs.
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
- Follow 5S, TPM, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) on the shop floor.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE.
- Minimize material wastage and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications
- ITI (Turner/Machinist/Fitter) / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Certification in CNC/VMC Machine Operation is preferred.
Experience
- 0–2 Years: Trainee/Junior Operator.
- 2–5 Years: CNC/VMC Operator in manufacturing industries.
- Experience in the aluminium extrusion, tool room, die manufacturing, or automotive industry will be preferred.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of CNC and VMC machine operations and setup.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T basics.
- Familiarity with Fanuc, Siemens, Mitsubishi, or similar CNC controllers.
- Knowledge of cutting tools, tooling selection, and machining parameters.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
- Basic understanding of preventive maintenance and machine troubleshooting.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in shifts and under production deadlines.
