About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Databricks Engineer to join our team for a Japanese client project. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Databricks, Genie AI, SQL, data validation, KPI governance, and business intelligence, with the ability to collaborate across business and technical teams to deliver high-quality analytics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and optimize SQL queries aligned with business requirements.
- Build and maintain reusable KPI definitions, business metrics, and semantic models.
- Validate Databricks Genie AI responses against reports, dashboards, source systems, and SQL outputs.
- Perform benchmark testing and identify opportunities for Genie AI tuning and performance improvements.
- Analyze data discrepancies, identify root causes, and coordinate issue resolution.
- Maintain documentation including tuning logs, KPI repositories, and validation reports.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, data engineers, and BI teams to ensure data accuracy and governance.
- Support data quality initiatives, semantic layer optimization, and business metric standardization.
Required Skills
- 3–5 years of experience in Data Engineering, BI Development, Analytics Support, or Data Quality.
- Must be well versed with Databricks Genie AI (Genie) and its tuning, validation, and optimization capabilities.
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, SQL, and query optimization.
- Experience with Lakehouse Architecture and Unity Catalog.
- Good understanding of KPI frameworks, business metrics, semantic layers, and data governance.
- Experience in data validation, benchmarking, and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and cloud analytics platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Experience with AI-powered analytics and conversational analytics platforms is highly preferred.
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
