Job Title: Purchase Manager – Shipbuilding Industry

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Purchase Manager to oversee procurement activities for our shipbuilding operations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, equipment, machinery, and services required for ship construction, repair, and maintenance projects. The role requires strong vendor management, cost optimization, and supply chain coordination skills to ensure timely project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with shipbuilding project requirements.
- Source and procure marine-grade materials, steel plates, pipes, electrical components, machinery, engines, navigation equipment, and other shipbuilding-related items.
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard qualified suppliers and subcontractors.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, delivery schedules, and payment terms to achieve cost savings and operational efficiency.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production, engineering, and project teams to ensure material availability.
- Prepare and issue RFQs, analyze quotations, and finalize purchase orders.
- Track supplier performance regarding quality, delivery, and compliance.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.
- Manage import/export procurement activities, customs documentation, and logistics coordination when required.
- Resolve supplier issues, material shortages, and delivery delays proactively.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, contracts, and supplier databases.
- Generate procurement reports, cost analyses, and budget forecasts for management review.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5–10 years of procurement experience, preferably in shipbuilding, ship repair, marine engineering, offshore, heavy engineering, or manufacturing industries.
- Strong knowledge of marine materials, equipment, and shipbuilding procurement processes.
- Experience in vendor development, contract negotiation, and strategic sourcing.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent.
- Good understanding of logistics, inventory management, and import/export procedures.
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management (CIPS, CPSM, or equivalent).
- Experience working with classification societies and marine industry standards.
- Knowledge of international sourcing and marine supply markets.

Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹900,000.00 per year
