We are looking for an experienced and highly responsible Plant Manager to oversee the complete operations of our steel bright bar manufacturing facility. The candidate will be responsible for production planning, manpower management, quality control, maintenance coordination, inventory control, dispatch coordination, process improvement, safety compliance, and overall plant efficiency.
The ideal candidate should have strong exposure to steel processing industries such as bright bar manufacturing, wire drawing, peeling, grinding, polishing, bar straightening, cutting, shot blasting, and related operations.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Operations
- Manage day-to-day factory operations and ensure smooth production flow.
- Achieve daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
- Monitor machine utilization, productivity, rejection levels, and downtime.
- Ensure proper planning and execution of production schedules.
- Coordinate between raw material inward, production, and dispatch departments.
- Ensure proper handling of coils, black bars, finished bright bars, and scrap.
Manpower Management
- Supervise machine operators, helpers, supervisors, maintenance staff, and loading workers.
- Maintain workforce discipline and productivity.
- Allocate manpower efficiently across shifts and departments.
- Monitor worker attendance and overtime requirements.
- Train workers on process discipline, safety, and quality requirements.
Quality Control
- Ensure production of material as per customer specifications and tolerances.
- Coordinate with quality department for inspections and test certificate requirements.
- Reduce rejection, rework, and customer complaints.
- Ensure proper tagging, packing, and identification of finished goods.
Maintenance & Machine Monitoring
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Monitor condition and performance of all production equipment.
- Ensure availability of consumables, spares, oils, and maintenance materials.
- Coordinate with maintenance technicians and external service providers.
Inventory & Material Control
- Monitor raw material stock, finished goods stock, consumables, and scrap generation.
- Ensure proper material movement and warehouse discipline.
- Control wastage and improve material yield.
- Coordinate inward and outward logistics activities.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure safe working practices across the factory.
- Monitor usage of PPE and machine safety systems.
- Ensure housekeeping and factory cleanliness.
- Support statutory and compliance-related requirements as instructed by management.
Reporting & Documentation
- Submit daily production and operational reports to management.
- Monitor production efficiency, rejection reports, power consumption, and machine downtime.
- Maintain records related to production, manpower, maintenance, and dispatch.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.
- Implement systems and SOPs for better plant control.
- Work towards minimizing downtime, scrap, and operational inefficiencies.
Candidate RequirementsEducation
- Diploma / B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 8–15 years of experience in steel processing or manufacturing industry.
- Experience in bright bar, wire drawing, peeling, grinding, or allied steel industries preferred.
- Prior experience managing factory workers and production operations is essential.
Skills Required
- Strong leadership and manpower handling skills.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and production planning.
- Knowledge of machine maintenance coordination.
- Ability to handle pressure and achieve production targets.
- Basic computer knowledge for reporting and operational tracking.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.
