Job Purpose
To manufacture, assemble, fit, modify and maintain plastic injection moulds as per approved drawings and specifications, ensuring dimensional accuracy, quality and timely completion of moulds.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Study and understand 2D drawings, 3D mould designs and component drawings.
- Manufacture and fit injection mould components as per drawing and required tolerances.
- Perform mould fitting, assembly, alignment and finishing activities.
- Work on mould components such as:
- Core & Cavity
- Inserts
- Sliders
- Lifters
- Ejector plates
- Ejector pins
- Guide pillars & bushes
- Mould base components
- Cooling components
- Runner and gate components
- Carry out bench fitting, filing, grinding, lapping and polishing as required.
- Check component dimensions using measuring instruments such as:
- Vernier Caliper
- Micrometer
- Height Gauge
- Bore Gauge
- Dial Gauge
- Depth Gauge
- Ensure proper mould alignment, shut-off, parting line and fitting.
- Carry out spotting and correction of core/cavity and mould components.
- Coordinate with CNC/VMC, EDM, Wire EDM and other machining operators for component corrections.
- Perform mould assembly and disassembly during manufacturing and trials.
- Identify and rectify mould fitting and functional problems.
- Support mould trials on injection moulding machines.
- Carry out necessary mould corrections based on trial observations.
- Ensure proper movement and functioning of sliders, lifters, ejectors and other mechanisms.
- Perform mould polishing and surface finishing as per customer requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and proper handling of mould components and tools.
- Ensure mould components are properly identified and stored after machining/fitting.
- Follow the approved drawing, process instructions and quality requirements.
- Complete assigned mould work within the planned delivery schedule.
- Maintain proper records of mould modifications and corrections.
- Follow all safety rules and Tool Room housekeeping requirements.
3. Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of plastic injection mould construction and assembly.
- Strong knowledge of mould fitting and bench work.
- Knowledge of core, cavity, inserts, slides, lifters and ejection systems.
- Ability to understand mould drawings and GD&T.
- Knowledge of mould materials such as P20, H13, EN series steels and other tool steels.
- Knowledge of machining and finishing processes.
- Good knowledge of mould spotting and correction.
- Ability to identify and rectify dimensional and fitting problems.
- Knowledge of injection mould trial and troubleshooting will be preferred.

Candidate should have working knowledge of or exposure to:
- Milling Machine
- Surface Grinding Machine
- Cylindrical Grinding Machine
- Drilling Machine
- EDM
- Wire EDM
- CNC / VMC
- Bench Grinder
- Polishing equipment

Ability to use:

- Bore Gauge
- Depth Gauge
- Slip Gauge
- Other precision measuring instruments

Preference will be given to candidates having experience in plastic injection mould manufacturing, particularly:

- Slider/lifter mechanisms
- Complex injection moulds
- Mould modification and trial correction
9. Overall Accountability
The Tool & Die Maker is responsible for ensuring that mould components are accurately fitted, assembled, aligned, finished and trial-ready as per approved drawings, quality standards and the planned mould manufacturing schedule.
