- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new products that meet customer needs and market trends.
- Conduct market research and analyze consumer behavior to inform product development decisions.
- Develop and implement product concepts, prototypes, and testing plans.
- Work closely with the design team to create visually appealing packaging and branding materials.
- Assist in developing marketing strategies to promote new products.
- Analyze sales data and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement.
- Formulation Development
- Develop innovative and stable formulations for skin care, hair care, personal care, color cosmetics, etc.
2. Stability & Compatibility Studies
- Conduct stability testing (accelerated/real-time) as per company protocols.
- Perform packaging compatibility studies and recommend suitable packaging materials.
- Maintain stability data, observation logs, and detailed test reports.
3. Documentation & Regulatory
- Prepare and maintain MFR, BMR, PDR, COA, MSDS, and other R&D documentation.
- Ensure formulations meet Indian (BIS), US FDA, EU, ASEAN cosmetic regulatory guidelines.
- Provide ingredient lists, product safety data, and regulatory assessments to the compliance team.
4. Pilot & Commercial Scale-Up
- Support pilot batches, optimization, and technology transfer to production.
- Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot any manufacturing issues.
- Conduct process validation and ensure reproducibility from lab to plant scale.
5. Raw Material & Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate with suppliers for sourcing new raw materials and documentation.
- Conduct evaluation of new ingredients and maintain raw material specifications.
6. Quality & Testing
- Work closely with QC/QA to define specifications for finished products.
- Conduct sensory testing (texture, feel, fragrance) and physical/chemical tests.
- Ensure product quality, safety, and compliance with internal standards.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with Marketing for new product briefs, claims, consumer insights, and benchmarking.
- Provide technical support to sales, marketing, and production teams.
Preferred candidate profile
- Strong understanding of cosmetic chemistry, surfactants, emulsions, polymers, actives, preservatives, fragrances, and colorants.
- Knowledge of formulation techniques for creams, lotions, gels, serums, shampoos, conditioners, hair oils, etc.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements (BIS, FDA, EU).
- Laboratory skills: weighing, mixing, emulsification, pH/viscosity measurements, stability protocols.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Conduct bench-scale experiments, optimize formulations, and evaluate functional properties.
- Select and evaluate raw materials, actives, fragrances, and functional ingredients based on performance and regulatory compliance.
- Create prototype batches and adjust formulations based on feedback from internal teams.
