Reporting To - Quality Manager / Production Head
Job Summary
The Lab Chemist is responsible for conducting quality analysis and laboratory testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure compliance with company standards and food safety regulations. The role includes maintaining laboratory records, monitoring product quality parameters, and supporting continuous quality improvement activities within the plant.
Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Testing & Analysis
- Conduct physical and chemical analysis of wheat, flour, bran, and other related products.
- Perform routine laboratory tests such as moisture, ash content, gluten, protein, granulation, and other quality parameters.
- Monitor incoming raw material quality and verify compliance with specifications.
- Analyze finished products before dispatch approval.
- Maintain sample retention and testing records.
Laboratory Operations
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards within the laboratory.
- Ensure chemicals, reagents, and testing materials are stored safely and properly.
- Prepare laboratory reports and maintain accurate documentation.
Process Monitoring
- Coordinate with production teams to maintain product consistency.
- Report quality deviations immediately to the reporting manager.
- Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.
- Monitor process parameters to support continuous quality improvement.
Compliance & Safety
- Follow food safety standards, GMP, HACCP, and company quality procedures.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality policies and statutory regulations.
- Follow laboratory safety practices and proper handling of chemicals.
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc / M.Sc in Chemistry, Food Technology, Microbiology, or related field.
- Experience in flour mill, food industry, or manufacturing laboratory preferred.
- Freshers with strong academic background may also apply.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of laboratory testing procedures.
- Basic understanding of flour milling and food quality standards.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- Familiarity with laboratory instruments and testing methods.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions

- Rotational shifts may be applicable based on production requirements.
- Must follow safety and hygiene regulations at all times.
