Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Core Java Developer . You will be embedded in delivery — working alongside AI developers, designers, and client teams to develop applications that are reliable, performant, and genuinely fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and deploy Java-based applications and modules
- Write clean, efficient, and reusable code following object-oriented design principles
- Work with multithreading, collections, exception handling, and Java I/O to build robust applications
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and debugging to ensure high code quality
- Collaborate with senior developers and architects to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Optimize application performance and troubleshoot production issues
- Integrate applications with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and third-party APIs
- Document technical specifications and maintain up-to-date system documentation
- Stay current with emerging Java frameworks, tools, and best practices
- Work directly with clients across industries (maritime, FMCG, enterprise, manufacturing, automation) to translate business requirements into working software.
- Integrate AI capabilities into applications — LLM APIs, RAG pipelines, and intelligent interfaces — working alongside AI developers and architects.
- Deploy and maintain applications on cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, or GCP) using CI/CD pipelines.
- Stay current with evolving frameworks, tooling, and best practices — and bring what is useful back into the studio's work.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Core Java (adjust based on seniority)
- Strong understanding of OOP concepts, data structures, and algorithms
- Proficiency in Java Collections Framework, Multithreading, and Exception Handling
- Experience with JDBC and relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.)
- Familiarity with build tools (Maven/Gradle) and version control (Git)
- Knowledge of Java 8+ features (Streams, Lambda expressions, Functional Interfaces)
- Good understanding of design patterns and SOLID principles
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
- Good communication and teamwork abilities
- Familiarity with REST API design, authentication patterns, and third-party integrations.
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and deployment pipelines (Docker, CI/CD).
- Understanding of version control workflows using Git.
- Excellent communication skills — able to discuss technical decisions clearly with both engineering teams and non-technical client stakeholders.
- Able to work with minimal supervision, take ownership of features end to end, and drive work forward independently.
- Comfortable in a consulting/studio environment — multi-client, fast-context-switching, outcome-focused.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating LLM APIs (OpenAI, Claude, or similar) into production applications.
- Familiarity with vector databases or RAG-based system architecture.
- Exposure to TypeScript for both front-end and back-end development.
- Experience with real-time systems (WebSockets, streaming APIs).
