JOB SUMMARY:
The Packing Assistant is responsible for accurately packing, labeling, and preparing products for dispatch while ensuring product quality, packaging integrity, and compliance with company standards. The role involves verifying customer orders, using appropriate packing materials, and coordinating with the Warehouse and Dispatch teams to ensure timely and error-free deliveries. The Packing Assistant maintains a clean, safe, and organized packing area, follows established packing procedures and safety regulations, and contributes to efficient warehouse operations by minimizing packing errors, product damage, and delivery delays.
Key Responsibilities:
A. Core Responsibilities:
- Pick and pack customer orders accurately according to packing lists, sales orders, and dispatch schedules while ensuring timely order fulfillment.
- Verify product quantities, item specifications, product codes, and packaging requirements before packing to ensure complete order accuracy.
- Select appropriate packing materials and packing methods to ensure products are adequately protected during handling and transportation.
- Ensure all packed products are properly sealed, labeled, tagged, and prepared in accordance with company standards and customer requirements.
- Inspect products for physical damage, defects, or packaging issues before packing and immediately report any discrepancies to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Prepare packed orders for dispatch by arranging cartons and packages safely for loading while minimizing product damage.
- Assist in loading packed goods onto delivery vehicles using proper material handling techniques and workplace safety practices.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping of the packing area, ensuring workstations, packing materials, and equipment remain neat and operational.
- Follow company policies, packing procedures, quality standards, and workplace safety regulations to ensure compliance with organizational requirements.
- Coordinate with the Warehouse, Dispatch, and Sales teams to ensure customer orders are packed accurately and dispatched on schedule.
- Handle products carefully to minimize breakage, damage, and packing errors while maintaining high quality standards.
- Ensure all packing activities are completed within established productivity, quality, and dispatch timelines
B. Additional Essential Responsibilities:
- Ensure adequate packing materials are available and promptly report shortages to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Assist in sorting products and preparing orders before packing to facilitate smooth packing operations.
- Report damaged products, incorrect items, packaging defects, equipment malfunctions, and workplace safety hazards immediately to the supervisor.
- Support the Dispatch team by ensuring packed goods are arranged and ready according to delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate packing records, dispatch labels, packing checklists, and related documentation as required by company procedures.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to improving packing quality, efficiency, and productivity.
- Assist in maintaining proper storage and organization of packing materials, cartons, labels, tapes, and other packing supplies.
- Support newly assigned Packing Assistants by demonstrating proper packing methods, safe handling techniques, and quality standards.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and hazard-free packing environment by following housekeeping and workplace safety practices. Perform other packing and dispatch-related duties assigned by the Warehouse Supervisor or Management.
Required Qualification
- Minimum qualification: Plus Two (Higher Secondary) or equivalent. Diploma or degree in any field is an added advantage.
- Prior experience in retail, showroom, or customer service is preferred but not mandatory.
- Good communication skills in Malayalam; basic English knowledge is an advantage.
- Basic understanding of customer handling and sales support.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment. Physically fit and able to stand for long hours.
- Basic numerical skills for handling product prices and simple calculations.
