Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The Junior Accountant will assist in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and supporting the overall financial operations of the company. This role is ideal for a candidate who is eager to learn and grow within the accounting field.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Record Keeping:
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records by recording daily transactions in the company’s accounting system.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Process invoices, payments, and receipts, ensuring timely and accurate entry into the accounting system.
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable balances, following up on overdue payments as needed.
- Assisting in Financial Reporting:
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines.
- Expense Tracking:
- Track and record company expenses, ensuring they are categorized correctly for budgeting and reporting purposes.
- Verify expense reports and reconcile any discrepancies.
- Supporting Audits:
- Assist in preparing documentation and providing support during internal and external audits.
- Ensure all necessary financial documentation is organized and accessible.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure all financial transactions comply with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial files, both electronic and paper-based.
- Assisting in Budget Preparation:
- Help with the preparation of budgets and forecasts under the supervision of senior accountants.
- Analyze budget variances and report on significant differences.
- General Accounting Support:
- Assist with general administrative tasks within the accounting department.
- Provide support to senior accountants in various accounting projects and tasks.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Candidates pursuing accounting certifications (such as CPA, CA, ACCA) are preferred.
- Experience: 0-2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment or public accounting firm.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Tally) is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in financial data entry and reporting.
- Analytical Skills: Basic understanding of accounting principles and the ability to analyze financial data.
- Communication Skills: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Integrity and Confidentiality: High level of integrity and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.
