Role: Production Manager
Job Summary
Responsible for planning, managing, and controlling the overall textile production operations to ensure products are manufactured on time, within the approved cost, and according to required quality standards. The role manages production teams, coordinates with other departments, monitors productivity, controls wastage, and drives continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
· Plan, organize, and supervise day-to-day production activities to meet production targets and customer requirements.
· Develop production plans and schedules based on orders, capacity, manpower, raw material availability, and delivery commitments.
· Monitor production of fabrics, sarees, garments, dress materials, textile accessories, and other products, depending on the manufacturing setup.
· Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, materials, and production capacity.
· Coordinate with PPC, Purchase, Warehouse, Quality, Design, Maintenance, Merchandising, and Dispatch teams.
· Ensure availability of required fabric, yarn, dyes, trims, accessories, packing materials, and other raw materials.
· Monitor production progress and take corrective action when targets or schedules are at risk.
· Supervise production supervisors, line leaders, operators, technicians, and other production staff.
· Allocate manpower effectively and monitor employee productivity and performance.
· Ensure adherence to approved production specifications, quality standards, work instructions, and SOPs.
· Work closely with the Quality Team to minimize defects, rework, rejection, wastage, and customer complaints.
· Monitor production efficiency, machine utilization, downtime, and process losses.
· Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve productivity.
· Control material consumption and minimize fabric/yarn wastage, rejection, and production losses.
· Coordinate with Maintenance to ensure preventive maintenance and quick resolution of machine breakdowns.
· Monitor production costs and support initiatives to reduce operating expenses.
· Ensure proper documentation of production quantities, material consumption, rejection, wastage, downtime, and output.
· Review daily, weekly, and monthly production reports and present performance updates to management.
· Implement Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and productivity enhancement initiatives where applicable.
· Maintain discipline and promote a positive, safe, and productive working environment.
· Train and develop production staff to improve technical skills and operational performance.
· Support audits and ensure compliance with company and customer requirements.
· Monitor fabric production, dyeing, printing, embroidery, finishing, cutting, stitching, and packing processes, depending on the factory setup.
· Ensure proper control of shade, GSM, width, shrinkage, color fastness, fabric construction, and finishing parameters.
· Coordinate with the Quality Department for fabric inspection and process quality control.
· Monitor lot/batch traceability throughout the production process.
· Control fabric/yarn consumption and process wastage.
· Ensure proper handling and storage of work-in-progress materials.
· Coordinate production priorities for seasonal, festive, bridal, and customer-specific collections.
· Ensure finished goods are completed according to approved samples and specifications.
Requirement :
· Relevant textile production experience, in a managerial/supervisory role.
· Strong knowledge of textile manufacturing processes and production planning.
· Experience in manpower planning, production scheduling, and capacity utilization.
· Good knowledge of quality control, productivity improvement, wastage control, and cost management.
· Strong leadership and team-management skills.
· Good knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and MS Excel.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
· Good communication and coordination skills.
· Ability to work under production deadlines and handle multiple priorities.
