Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Pattern Master with strong expertise in outerwear apparel (woven and knit) to support product development from concept to production. The role requires proficiency in pattern making, fit development, grading, and marker planning using CAD systems, with a keen understanding of construction, materials, and performance requirements specific to outerwear and technical garments.
Key Responsibilities1. Pattern Development
- Develop accurate base patterns from design sketches, tech packs, or reference samples
- Create patterns for outerwear categories including jackets, riding gear, and technical apparel
- Interpret design intent while ensuring fit, functionality, and manufacturability
- Modify and refine patterns based on fit trials and feedback
2. Fit & Sampling
- Conduct and support fit sessions, analyze fit issues, and implement corrections
- Collaborate with design and sampling teams to ensure fit consistency across sizes
- Maintain fit standards and size specifications for both woven and knit garments
3. CAD Pattern Making & Digitization
- Create and modify patterns using apparel CAD software (e.g., Gerber, Lectra, Tukatech, WINDACAD or equivalent)
- Digitize manual patterns and maintain organized digital libraries
- Ensure patterns are production-ready with correct seam allowances, notches, grain lines, and annotations
4. Grading
- Perform pattern grading across size ranges while maintaining fit integrity
- Develop and maintain grading rules specific to outerwear and technical garments
5. Marker Making & Fabric Optimization
- Create efficient cutting markers using CAD systems
- Optimize fabric utilization to reduce wastage while maintaining quality
- Work closely with production teams to ensure marker accuracy and feasibility
6. Construction & Technical Detailing
- Provide inputs on garment construction techniques, seam types, reinforcements, and finishes
7. Collaboration & Production Support
- Liaise with design, sourcing, and production teams to ensure smooth product development
- Support factory during pre-production and pilot runs
- Troubleshoot pattern-related issues during bulk production
8. Documentation & Quality Control
- Maintain accurate pattern records, version control, and documentation
- Ensure all patterns meet quality and consistency standards
- Assist in establishing and maintaining SOPs for pattern and grading processes
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong expertise in pattern making for outerwear (jackets, technical garments, riding gear preferred)
- Experience with both woven and knit fabrics
- Proficiency in CAD software for pattern making and marker planning
- Good understanding of garment construction, fit, and grading principles
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and tech packs
- Knowledge of fabric behavior, shrinkage, and performance characteristics
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Fashion Technology / Apparel Manufacturing / Pattern Making
- Experience working with technical or performance apparel brands
- Exposure to protective gear or structured garments (added advantage)
