Job Summary
The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and alignment of mechanical equipment used in biomass handling and pellet production plants. The role involves ensuring smooth operation of plant machinery, minimizing breakdowns, and supporting preventive maintenance activities to maintain operational efficiency and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, repair, and servicing of plant equipment including:
- Conveyors
- Screw conveyors
- Chippers
- Rotary dryers
- Hammer mills
- Pellet mills
- Cyclones
- Fans and blowers
- Replace damaged or worn-out components such as:
- Bearings
- Pulleys
- Chains
- Belts
- Couplings
- Perform welding, gas cutting, and basic fabrication work as required.
- Carry out shaft alignment, machine leveling, and equipment fitting activities.
- Attend and resolve mechanical breakdowns during plant operations.
- Ensure proper lubrication of rotating equipment and moving parts.
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities as per maintenance schedules.
- Inspect machinery for vibration, abnormal noise, overheating, and leakages.
- Assist during plant shutdown and maintenance activities.
- Ensure all machine guards and safety systems are properly installed and functional.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in safe and clean condition.
- Coordinate with production and electrical teams for smooth plant operation.
- Report major equipment issues and maintenance observations to the supervisor.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of mechanical fitting and fabrication work.
- Experience in bearing replacement, shaft alignment, and equipment maintenance.
- Welding and gas cutting skills.
- Understanding of rotating equipment and industrial machinery.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and fault diagnosis capability.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices.
- Ability to work in shifts and industrial plant environments.
- Awareness of industrial safety procedures and practices.
Educational Qualification
- ITI in Fitter / Welder / Mechanical Trade
Preferred Experience
- 2–5 years of industrial maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience in biomass pellet plants, manufacturing units, or process industries will be an added advantage.
Working Conditions
- Industrial/plant working environment
- Rotational shift duties as per operational requirements

- Physically fit for maintenance and plant-related activities
- Ability to work under breakdown and shutdown conditions
Pay: ₹25,000.00 - ₹40,000.00 per month
