Job Summary
The Shift In-Charge is responsible for managing all production activities during the assigned shift to ensure safe, efficient, and quality-focused operations. The role involves manpower management, productivity monitoring, quality compliance, machine utilization, and achievement of daily production targets while maintaining food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production Management
- Execute daily production plans as per schedule.
- Ensure achievement of shift-wise production targets.
- Monitor line efficiency, productivity, and output.
- Minimize downtime, wastage, and production losses.
- Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Maintenance, and Warehouse teams for smooth operations.
Manpower Management
- Allocate manpower based on production requirements.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, and shift deployment.
- Train operators and helpers on SOPs and best practices.
- Conduct shift briefings and performance reviews.
Quality & Food Safety
- Ensure compliance with GMP, GHP, HACCP, and Food Safety standards.
- Verify adherence to SOPs and process parameters.
- Coordinate with QA team for in-process quality checks.
- Ensure proper segregation and handling of non-conforming products.
Productivity & Efficiency
- Track productivity and efficiency of production lines.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
- Monitor machine utilization and labor productivity.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve output and reduce losses.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all plant safety procedures.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure proper PPE usage.
- Report and investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Maintain statutory and company compliance requirements.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain production reports and shift records.
- Update production, rejection, downtime, and manpower reports.
- Ensure proper handover to the next shift.
- Escalate critical issues to management on a timely basis.
Maintenance Coordination
- Coordinate with maintenance team for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Ensure machines are operational and production-ready.
- Support root cause analysis for recurring equipment issues.
Qualifications
- Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Food Technology, Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in food manufacturing operations.
- Experience in snacks, bakery, biscuits, cookies, confectionery, or FMCG manufacturing preferred.
Preferred Experience
- Handling 50–200+ manpower in a shift.
- Working with automated packaging and processing lines.
- Experience in productivity improvement and loss reduction initiatives.
Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
