Roles & Responsibilities:
Welding Inspection & Quality Control
- Oversee welding operations to ensure compliance with AWS, ASME, ISO, or other project-specific codes.
- Review, develop, and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
- Manage welder qualifications, maintaining an up-to-date Welder Performance Qualification (WPQ) log.
- Perform visual inspections of welds (VT) and coordinate Non-Destructive Testing (NDT/NDE) such as RT, UT, PT, and MT.
- Identify welding defects (e.g., porosity, undercut, lack of fusion) and establish root-cause analysis and corrective actions (CAPA).
Quality Documentation & Compliance
- Review and approve Material Test Reports (MTRs) and Mill Certificates to ensure raw material traceability.
- Draft, implement, and update Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) tailored to specific projects.
- Document and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) from identification through to rework and closure.
- Coordinate with third-party inspectors (TPI) and client quality representatives during witness points.
Process Improvement & Shop Floor Support
- Conduct in-process and final dimensional audits using blueprints, weld symbols, and GD&T guidelines.
- Calibrate and manage shop floor inspection tools and welding equipment certifications.
- Provide technical guidance to fabrication teams to minimize weld distortion and improve first-time-through yield.
Skills and Requirements:
- Education: Diploma/BE/BTech in Mechanical, Metallurgical or any related field.
- Experience: 5 - 8 years in fabrication Industry.
- Strong knowledge in NDT testing, Quality standards and Documentation.
- Ability to handle Quality instruments.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
