About the Role
A well-established professional family is looking for an educated, polished, experienced and caring Live-in Governess / Private Tutor to support the educational, personal and social development of two children:
- Boy – 4 years
- Girl – 7 years
The ideal candidate will play an active role in the children's daily learning, routines, activities and overall development. This position is primarily focused on education, child development, structured activities and well-being, and is not a housekeeping or domestic-help position.
Key Responsibilities
Education & Learning
- Supervise and assist with school homework and studies.
- Support English speaking, reading and vocabulary development.
- Conduct age-appropriate educational activities and learning exercises.
- Encourage reading through books, storytelling and interactive sessions.
- Develop general knowledge and curiosity through age-appropriate discussions and activities.
- Support the children's academic routines and learning habits.
Personal Development
- Teach and reinforce good manners and social etiquette.
- Develop table and dining manners.
- Encourage personal grooming, hygiene and cleanliness habits.
- Build communication skills, confidence and independence.
- Help establish and maintain healthy daily routines and discipline.
- Encourage responsibility and positive behavioural habits.
Activities & Recreation
- Organise arts, crafts, puzzles and educational games.
- Engage children in indoor and outdoor play.
- Encourage age-appropriate sports and recreational activities.
- Plan meaningful activities that balance learning and recreation.
- Accompany children to classes, activities or outings when required.
Childcare & Daily Support
- Provide attentive and responsible supervision of the children.
- Maintain a safe, structured and positive environment.
- Understand the individual needs, interests and personalities of both children.
- Coordinate with parents regarding the children's daily routines, activities and progress.
- Accompany the family during occasional travel/stays in Gurgaon.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Graduate or Postgraduate degree.
- B.Ed, Montessori, Early Childhood Education, Psychology or English background preferred.
- Strong academic background, preferably from a reputed English-medium/private school.
- Excellent and confident spoken English.
- A polished, well-mannered and presentable personality.
- A warm, patient and affectionate approach towards children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain discipline while creating a positive and encouraging environment.
- Good knowledge of age-appropriate educational activities.
- Ability to create and maintain structured daily routines.
- Comfort with a full-time residential/live-in arrangement.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience as any of the following will be highly preferred:
- Governess
- Private Tutor
- Primary School Teacher
- Montessori Teacher
- Early Childhood Educator
- Shadow Teacher
- Child Development Professional
- Nanny with strong educational/tutoring experience
Experience working with children between 4–10 years of age will be particularly valuable.
Important Requirements
- This is a long-term residential position and candidates should be genuinely interested in building a long-term association with the family.
- The candidate should be comfortable primarily residing in Haridwar.
- Occasional travel/stay in Gurgaon will be required with the family.
- The role is focused on the children's education, development, activities, routines and well-being.
- This is not a housekeeping or maid position.
- Police verification, identity/address verification and previous-employer references will be conducted as part of the hiring process.
Compensation & Benefits
- ₹40,000–₹60,000+ per month, based on education, experience and overall suitability.
- Exceptional candidates with strong educational qualifications, excellent English and relevant experience may be offered higher compensation.
