Role Summary
A Commis Chef assists senior chefs in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen operations. They are responsible for maintaining hygiene standards, preparing ingredients, and learning kitchen procedures to develop culinary skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients such as chopping vegetables, marinating meat, and measuring ingredients
- Assist in cooking and plating dishes as directed by senior chefs
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen
- Store food properly and monitor freshness
- Follow recipes and portion standards
- Operate kitchen equipment safely
- Support stock rotation (FIFO) and inventory control
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards.
