Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Cost Accountant to manage product costing, manufacturing accounting, WIP, inventory valuation, production variance analysis, and profitability reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update detailed BOMs and standard costs for all SKUs and product revisions.
- Calculate complete product costs covering formulas, raw materials, packaging, printing, decoration, filling, assembly, inspection, testing, freight, duties, warehousing, and other landed costs.
- Validate units of measure, pack sizes, fill weights, production quantities, component usage, yield assumptions, and approved production overages.
- Determine actual production costs by SKU, batch, customer order, supplier, and manufacturing facility.
- Manage WIP accounting for bulk formulas, production-issued components, partially completed goods, finished products pending QA release, rework, repacking, relabeling, and inventory held at contract manufacturers.
- Reconcile WIP balances by SKU, batch, production order, factory, production stage, quantity, and financial value.
- Reconcile production deposits, factory accruals, uninvoiced receipts, issued materials, unused components, bulk inventory, completed production, and finished-goods receipts.
- Investigate aged, stalled, negative, duplicated, and unexplained WIP balances and ensure timely resolution.
- Ensure all materials issued to production are properly accounted for as finished goods, remaining inventory, approved production loss, rework, quarantine, or recoverable damage.
- Compare theoretical material consumption and expected yields with actual production usage and output.
- Analyze purchase-price, material-usage, formula-yield, filling-yield, scrap, rework, freight, duty, foreign-exchange, WIP, and inventory variances.
- Measure and document manufacturing losses, including bulk loss, overfilling, setup waste, damaged components, defective packaging, rejected finished goods, sorting, rework, repacking, relabeling, and destruction.
- Differentiate between normal production losses and abnormal, preventable, or recoverable losses.
- Determine the financial impact and responsible party for supplier defects, factory damage, freight damage, warehouse damage, and unexplained shortages.
- Prepare financial documentation for supplier and factory chargebacks, debit notes, credits, replacements, refunds, and insurance claims.
- Monitor recovery claims and ensure credits, replacements, refunds, or other settlements are received and accurately recorded.
- Calculate complete landed costs, including freight, customs, duties, brokerage, insurance, handling, drayage, warehouse receiving, and related costs.
- Reconcile raw materials, components, bulk inventory, WIP, finished goods, goods in transit, quarantine inventory, damaged stock, and general-ledger balances.
- Prepare profitability analysis by SKU, customer, production order, and product launch.
- Analyze product margins, manufacturing costs, and key cost drivers affecting profitability.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Professional accounting designation or cost-accounting certification preferred.
- Experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, inventory accounting, operational finance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of BOMs, standard costing, actual costing, WIP accounting, landed costs, inventory valuation, manufacturing variances, and gross-margin analysis.
- Experience with outsourced manufacturing, overseas suppliers, imported inventory, and international supply chains.
- Experience in beauty, cosmetics, CPG, food, pharmaceutical, or other manufacturing industries preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with strong data analysis and reconciliation capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of ERP, purchasing, inventory, production, and accounting systems.
- Ability to understand production documentation and convert operational activities into accurate financial results.
Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
