About the Role
We are looking for a driven and experienced Assistant Manager to join our Confectionery Exports team. The ideal candidate is currently handling a similar role and brings an active portfolio of international customers across multiple geographies. The candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end export operations, nurturing client relationships, and driving revenue growth in international markets.
Key Responsibilities
Export Sales & Customer Management.
Manage and grow an existing portfolio of international buyers across diverse markets (retail chains, distributors, private label clients, B2B buyers).
Handle the full sales cycle — from lead generation, inquiry and quotation to order confirmation and post-shipment follow-up.
Identify and develop new customer relationships to expand geographic reach and product penetration.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contract conditions in line with company guidelines.
Operations & Documentation
Coordinate with production, logistics, and QA teams to ensure timely and compliant shipment of orders.
Oversee preparation and accuracy of all export documentation — commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, phytosanitary certificates, FDA registrations, and country-specific compliance documents.
Liaise with freight forwarders, CHA (Customs House Agents), and shipping lines for smooth dispatch
Market & Product Development
Gather market intelligence on competitor pricing, new product trends, and buyer preferences across target geographies.
Work closely with the product development and packaging teams to adapt offerings to market-specific requirements (labelling, shelf life, formats, and certifications).
Support participation in international trade fairs and buyer meets.
Internal Coordination & Reporting
Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and market updates to senior management.
Coordinate with finance for LC (Letter of Credit) management, remittance follow-ups, and export incentive claims (RoDTEP, DGFT schemes, etc.)
Ensure compliance with FSSAI, APEDA, and importing country regulatory requirements
Candidate Profile
Experience
About 5 years of hands-on experience in a confectionery / food exports role
Currently working in a similar capacity with an active international customer base
Skills &Competencies
Strong knowledge of export procedures, Incoterms, and international trade documentation.
Familiarity with confectionery product categories — chocolates, candies, sugar confectionery, molding products, wafers, jellies, etc.
Proven ability to manage multiple customer accounts across varied geographies simultaneously.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills; comfortable dealing directly with overseas buyers.
Proficiency in MS Office; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
Working knowledge of export incentive schemes and regulatory frameworks (APEDA, FSSAI, DGFT)
Proficient in English, Hindi and Telugu languages. Knowing Tamil is added advantage.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business, International Trade, Food Technology, or a related field
MBA / PG Diploma in International Business is preferred
