Job Title: Housekeeping / Attender
Department: Housekeeping / Facility Services
Reports To: Housekeeping Supervisor / Housekeeping Manager
Location: Hospital premises (wards, OT, ICU, common areas)
Job Summary
Responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control standards across all hospital areas, including patient wards, operation theatres, ICUs, corridors, washrooms, and administrative areas, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, wards, nursing stations, washrooms, and common areas as per schedule
- Follow hospital infection control protocols and biomedical waste management guidelines
- Segregate and dispose of waste (general, biomedical, sharps) according to color-coded bins
- Perform terminal cleaning/disinfection of discharged patient beds and rooms
- Assist in cleaning and sanitizing Operation Theatres (OT) and ICUs following strict protocols
- Mop, sweep, dust, and clean floors, windows, furniture, and fixtures
- Replenish consumables (soap, tissues, hand sanitizers, linens) in washrooms and patient areas
- Handle and transport linen (soiled/clean) as per laundry protocol
- Report any maintenance issues, breakages, or safety hazards to the supervisor
- Assist in shifting/moving furniture, equipment, or patient beds when required
- Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely as per SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
- Wear prescribed PPE (gloves, masks, aprons) as per hospital safety norms
- Maintain cleanliness logs/checklists and get supervisor sign-off
- Attend to housekeeping requests from nursing staff or patients promptly
Requirements CriteriaDetails
Education : 8th/10th pass or equivalent (varies by hospital)
Experience : Freshers welcome; prior hospital/housekeeping experience preferred
Skills : Basic hygiene awareness, physical stamina, teamwork
Language : Local language; basic understanding of English helpful
Working Hours Shift-based (rotational, including night shifts)
OtherWillingness to work in sensitive areas (ICU, OT, isolation wards)
