Production Manager — Roles & Responsibilities
A Production Manager is responsible for converting approved designs, materials, and production plans into quality modular furniture products, on time and at the required cost, while managing manpower, machines, productivity, safety, and shop-floor operations.
1. Production Planning & Execution
- Execute production according to the approved production plan.
- Allocate jobs to cutting, CNC, edge-banding, drilling, assembly, finishing, and packing sections.
- Ensure production targets are achieved within the planned timelines.
- Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production output.
- Coordinate with the Planning Manager regarding priorities and delivery commitments.
2. Manpower Management
- Plan and allocate manpower according to production requirements.
- Monitor worker productivity and attendance.
- Assign supervisors and operators to appropriate production activities.
- Identify manpower shortages and arrange resources where required.
- Train and develop production personnel.
3. Machine & Capacity Management
- Ensure optimum utilization of machinery and equipment.
- Coordinate machine loading based on production priorities.
- Monitor machine downtime and productivity.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance with the maintenance team.
- Identify capacity constraints and recommend additional resources or process improvements.
4. Production Process Control
Manage and monitor the complete manufacturing flow:
Material Receipt → Cutting → CNC → Edge Banding → Drilling → Assembly → Finishing → Quality Inspection → Packing → Dispatch
- Ensure smooth movement of materials and jobs between processes.
- Minimize waiting time and production bottlenecks.
- Maintain proper production sequencing.
- Ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings and specifications.
5. Quality Control
- Ensure products meet approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with the Quality team for inspections.
- Reduce manufacturing defects, rejection, and rework.
- Investigate the root cause of recurring defects.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure proper workmanship and finishing quality.
6. Design & Engineering Coordination
- Coordinate with the Design Manager and Design Draftsman regarding technical issues.
- Clarify drawing-related problems before production.
- Ensure production uses only approved and latest drawings.
- Provide feedback to the design team regarding manufacturing challenges.
- Suggest design improvements for manufacturability and standardization.
7. Material Utilization & Waste Control
- Optimize consumption of boards, laminates, veneers, hardware, adhesives, and other materials.
- Monitor production wastage.
- Reduce cutting and processing losses.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of materials.
- Investigate abnormal material consumption.
8. Productivity & Cost Control
- Establish production efficiency targets.
- Monitor labour and machine productivity.
- Reduce idle time, rework, rejection, and unnecessary movement.
- Improve production methods and workflows.
- Support cost-reduction and value-engineering initiatives.
9. Maintenance & Equipment
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance.
- Ensure machines are available for scheduled production.
- Monitor recurring machine failures.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams for timely repairs.
- Ensure operators follow machine operating procedures.
10. Safety & 5S
- Ensure safe working practices across the production floor.
- Enforce PPE requirements and machine safety procedures.
- Maintain proper housekeeping and 5S standards.
- Ensure safe material handling and storage.
- Report and investigate workplace incidents and unsafe conditions.
11. Dispatch & Installation Support
- Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Stores, and Dispatch teams.
- Ensure finished furniture is inspected and packed correctly.
- Prioritize production according to dispatch and site requirements.
- Ensure project-wise identification and packing.
- Support resolution of production-related site issues.
12. MIS & Production Reporting
Monitor and report:
- Planned vs. actual production
- Daily output
- Productivity
- Machine utilization
- Rejection and rework
- Material wastage
- Manpower utilization
- Downtime
- WIP
- Production delays
- Dispatch readiness
13. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing processes.
- Implement Lean/5S and productivity improvement initiatives.
- Standardize repetitive manufacturing processes.
- Reduce cycle time and unnecessary movement.
- Encourage employee suggestions for process improvement.

Pay: ₹18,317.74 - ₹69,108.25 per month
