Job Description: Designation: BI Developer (Power BI + Tableau)

We are seeking a skilled BI Developer with 5+ years of experience in designing, developing, and supporting business intelligence and analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Power BI, Tableau, Excel, data visualization, data modeling, and analytics, with the ability to transform complex data into actionable business insights. Experience working with cloud data platforms and the insurance domain is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, scorecards, and reports using Power BI and Tableau.
- Build and optimize Power BI semantic models and Tableau data sources to support business reporting and analytics needs.
- Develop advanced DAX measures and Power Query transformations for data preparation and analysis.
- Troubleshoot and resolve data model, report performance, and data quality issues.
- Design and maintain dimensional data models including fact and dimension tables.
- Analyze business data to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and performance improvement opportunities.
- Develop KPI frameworks, metrics definitions, and executive reporting dashboards.
- Create meaningful visualizations and data stories that support business decision-making.
- Support self-service analytics initiatives by creating reusable datasets and governed reporting assets.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure data is accurate, complete, and analytics-ready.
- Participate in BI deployments, report migrations, and environment management activities.
- Document BI solutions, data models, reporting processes, and business definitions.
Required Skills Power BI
- Strong experience developing reports, dashboards, and scorecards in Power BI.
- Hands-on experience with data modeling, relationships, star schemas, and semantic models.
- Proficiency in DAX including calculated measures, time intelligence, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Power Query (M) for data transformation and preparation.
- Knowledge of Power BI Service features including workspaces, deployment pipelines, Row-Level Security (RLS), and scheduled refreshes.
- Experience implementing self-service reporting solutions and reusable datasets.
Tableau
- Experience building interactive dashboards and visualizations using Tableau.
- Understanding of Tableau Server/Tableau Cloud and published data sources.
- Ability to optimize dashboard performance and user experience.
- Experience designing enterprise reporting and analytics solutions using Tableau.
Microsoft Excel
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting, analytics, and data management.
- Strong experience with Pivot Tables, Pivot Charts, Power Pivot, and Power Query.
- Expertise in advanced Excel formulas and functions such as XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, and logical functions.
- Experience performing data reconciliation, validation, trend analysis, and ad-hoc reporting.
- Ability to create automated reports, KPI scorecards, and executive reporting templates.
- Experience integrating Excel outputs with Power BI and other reporting platforms.
Data Analytics & Visualization
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Experience developing KPI frameworks, business metrics, and performance dashboards.
- Ability to perform trend analysis, variance analysis, root-cause analysis, and business performance monitoring.
- Expertise in data visualization best practices and dashboard design principles.
- Experience translating business requirements into actionable insights and analytics solutions.
- Knowledge of data profiling, data quality assessment, and data validation techniques.
- Strong understanding of storytelling with data and executive-level reporting.
Data Modeling
- Strong understanding of dimensional modeling concepts including fact and dimension design.
- Experience working with enterprise data warehouses and analytics data marts.
- Knowledge of star schema and data modeling best practices for BI reporting.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts and data integration processes.
Good to Have
- Experience with Snowflake and cloud-based analytics platforms.
- Exposure to Sigma Computing or other self-service analytics tools.
- Knowledge of insurance domain concepts.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and tools such as Jira.
- Experience working in large-scale enterprise reporting and analytics environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Reporting, Data Analytics, or a related role.
- Strong passion for data visualization, analytics, and delivering business insights through data.
