- Conceptualization & Design: Develop new product ideas and create detailed 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using tools like SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA.
- Prototyping & Testing: Build prototypes, perform testing, analyze results, and troubleshoot to refine the design.
- Manufacturing Optimization: Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to ensure products can be efficiently produced, often involving injection molding or CNC machining.
- Material Selection: Evaluate and select appropriate materials and processes for the best performance and cost.
- Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including marketing, manufacturing, and R&D, to meet design specifications.
- Documentation: Create BOMs (Bill of Materials), design specifications, and technical documentation.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g.,Ug nx, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and knowledge of FEA/CFD simulation tools.
- Experience: Previous experience (often 3-8+ years) in product design or related industries, such as furniture, automotive, or drones.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
