Job Overview
The Head – Tekla Detailing will lead the Tekla detailing department, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of structural steel detailing projects. The role is responsible for managing teams of modelers, detailers, checkers, and project coordinators while maintaining client satisfaction, productivity, quality, and profitability.
Core Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
* Lead and manage the Tekla detailing team.
* Allocate resources and manpower across projects.
* Mentor, train, and develop detailers, checkers, and team leads.
* Establish performance metrics and conduct periodic reviews.
Project Management
* Plan, schedule, and monitor multiple detailing projects simultaneously.
* Ensure project delivery within timelines and budget.
* Coordinate with clients, fabricators, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
* Conduct project kick-off meetings and progress reviews.
Technical Responsibilities
* Oversee creation and review of Tekla 3D models.
* Ensure accuracy of GA drawings, shop drawings, assembly drawings, erection drawings, and BOMs.
* Review connection details and fabrication requirements.
* Ensure compliance with AISC, BS, IS, OSHA, and project-specific standards.
* Drive BIM coordination and clash detection activities.
Quality & Process Improvement
* Establish QA/QC procedures for detailing deliverables.
* Implement best practices and standardization.
* Minimize RFIs, fabrication errors, and rework.
* Improve productivity through automation and Tekla customization.
Client Management
* Act as the primary technical interface for key clients.
* Participate in client meetings and project reviews.
* Resolve technical queries and maintain strong client relationships.
Required Qualifications
* B.E./B.Tech in Civil or Structural Engineering.
* 12–18+ years of experience in Structural Steel Detailing.
* Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing Tekla detailing teams.
* Expert knowledge of Tekla Structures.
* Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes.
* Experience in industrial, commercial, infrastructure, airport, refinery, oil & gas, or data center projects.
