Name of Post: Astronomy Outreach & Telescope Making Associate
- Duration: One Year (extendable based on performance and norms of IUCAA)
- Pay/Remuneration: INR 35000 p.m. (Negotiable based on experience)
- Qualification: Master's degree in any field, preferably in science
- Experience (at least 10 years): i) Good Science and Astronomy knowledge and excellent
communication skills in Marathi, Hindi and English, ii) Expertise in Telescopes and Telescope
Making, iii) Work with school students, teachers or informal educators.
- Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Conducting telescope-making workshops for students, teachers, and amateur astronomers
at IUCAA and other locations, including ICARDs and Associate University Departments,
as well as guidance for procurement and maintenance of small telescopes.
2. Maintaining small telescopes at IUCAA Muktangan Vidnyan Shodhika (MVS).
3. Assisting with all sky-watching programmes conducted by IUCAA.
4. Developing educational models, manuals, and video content using existing and new
resources.
5. Supporting regular public sessions, lectures, sky-watching programmes, campus visits, and
special IUCAA programmes such as Zilla Parishad Pune teacher trainings, the School
Students’ Summer Programme, IUCAA Summer Camps, etc.
NOTE: -
The candidate is expected to be present for all events, some of which will take place at night
and on weekends. The job will require extensive travel, ranging from a few days to a week.
