The Senior UK Payroll Executive is responsible for managing and preparing complex end‑to‑end UK payroll processes with high accuracy and compliance. This role involves calculating wages, statutory payments, tax and NI deductions, handling company setups, and overseeing starters and leavers. The position requires strong knowledge of RTI submissions, auto‑enrolment (AE), pension administration, and the ability to independently resolve payroll discrepancies.
Payroll Calculation & Processing
- Calculating accurate wages including bonuses, overtime, salary changes, commissions, and adjustments.
- Ensuring correct application of PAYE tax, National Insurance (NI), and pension contributions.
- Managing statutory payments including maternity, paternity, adoption, and sick pay (SSP/SMP/SPP/SAP).
- Reviewing payroll entries completed by junior staff to ensure compliance and accuracy.
Employee & Company Setup
- Setting up new companies on payroll software and ensuring proper configuration.
- Processing new starters (including tax code setup and payroll onboarding).
- Processing leavers, preparing final settlements, and generating P45 forms.
Compliance & Statutory Submissions
- Ensuring timely and accurate Real Time Information (RTI) submissions to HMRC.
- Managing Auto Enrolment (AE) processes, pension uploads, assessments, opt‑ins, and opt‑outs.
- Ensuring compliance with UK payroll regulations and legislative changes.
Issue Resolution & Query Handling
- Investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies, errors, and employee queries.
- Conducting payroll audits where necessary to ensure data integrity.
HMRC & Client Communication
- Liaising with HMRC regarding tax codes, PAYE issues, payroll discrepancies, and compliance‑related queries.
- Communicating professionally with clients to provide updates, clarifications, and payroll support.
- Offering guidance to clients on payroll processes, statutory requirements, and best practices.
Process Improvement & Team Support
- Supporting junior payroll executives with guidance, query resolution, and process training.
- Suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in payroll operations.
- Ensuring documentation, controls, and audit trails are properly maintained.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in UK payroll processing
- Experience liaising with HMRC and managing client relationships
- Familiarity with UK payroll software and pension platforms
· Knowledge of Software - Xero, Brightpay, payrollmanager, moneysoft, FreeAgent, STAR and other payroll software.
· Computer skills in Word, Outlook and Excel with experience using spreadsheets and databases.
- Knowledge of UK payroll, taxes and compliances.
- Comfortable in UK Shift
Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹650,000.00 per year
