This is a strong opportunity for a pharmacist who wants to build specialised experience within a growing mental health institution.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense psychotropic and other prescribed medications in line with psychiatrists' orders.
- Verify prescriptions for correct dosage, drug interactions, contraindications, and patient suitability, with particular attention to psychiatric medication regimens.
- Maintain strict handling, storage, and record-keeping of controlled and scheduled drugs in full compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and NDPS regulations.
- Manage stock levels, procurement, and expiry control to ensure uninterrupted medication supply.
- Support safe medication practices and assist the clinical team in monitoring for side effects and adverse reactions.
- Educate patients and caregivers on medication usage, dosage, and the importance of adherence.
- Maintain accurate records and support audits, regulatory inspections, and internal quality checks.
- Coordinate closely with psychiatrists, nursing staff, and the billing team for smooth pharmacy operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
- D.Pharm or B.Pharm from a recognised institution (B.Pharm preferred).
- Valid registration with the Kerala State Pharmacy Council.
- Sound knowledge of pharmacology and drug interactions; familiarity with psychotropic medications is a strong advantage.
- Understanding of controlled-substance handling and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with hospital pharmacy/HIS software is an advantage.
