Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances (2016/2019/2022)
Monitor database performance, health, and capacity; proactively identify and resolve issues
Implement and manage backup/restore strategies; ensure disaster recovery readiness
Manage database security: logins, roles, permissions, and auditing
Perform routine maintenance: index rebuilds, statistics updates, integrity checks (DBCC)
Monitor SQL Server Agent jobs, alerts, and scheduled tasks; troubleshoot job failures
Perform query tuning and performance troubleshooting using execution plans and DMVs
Support and maintain High Availability/Disaster Recovery setups (Always On, Log Shipping, Replication, Clustering)
Execute and validate backup/restore, failover, and DR drill procedures
Implement schema changes, deployments, patches, and minor upgrades
Troubleshoot and resolve incidents within defined SLAs; document root cause analysis
Maintain documentation of database configurations, processes, and runbooks
Participate in on call/rotational shift support (24x7 environment, if applicable)
Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams on database-related requirements
Assist in capacity planning, storage management, and growth forecasting
Required Skills
Hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA at E2/E3 level
Strong working knowledge of MS SQL Server (2016/2019/2022)
Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization
Experience with backup/recovery models and HA/DR technologies (Always On, Log Shipping, Replication, Clustering)
Knowledge of SQL Server Agent jobs, maintenance plans, and DBCC commands
Familiarity with monitoring tools (SQL Sentry, Redgate, SCOM, Idera, or native DMVs)
Basic understanding of Windows Server, storage, and networking fundamentals
Good communication, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
Good to Have / Additional Skills
Exposure to AI/ML concepts and AI-assisted database tools (e.g., AI-based query optimization, anomaly detection, Copilot for SQL, or similar AI-driven DBA tools) added advantage
Experience with Azure SQL Database / Managed Instance or AWS RDS
Basic knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation
Exposure to cloud migration or version upgrade projects
Awareness of ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management)
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (preferred\optional)
