Shopify Developer + UI/UX Designer
WebzPlot | Bangalore
We’re looking for a Shopify Developer who also has a strong eye for UI/UX and eCommerce design.
Someone who can build a technically solid Shopify store, but also understands that a good eCommerce website is not just about clean code.
It needs to look good, feel intuitive and convert.
At WebzPlot, we work with brands across fashion, jewellery, beauty, lifestyle, D2C and other eCommerce categories. We’re looking for someone who can take a store from idea to execution while thinking about both the customer experience and the development behind it.
What You’ll Do
- Build and customise Shopify stores from scratch
- Work with Shopify 2.0 themes and custom sections
- Develop using Liquid, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Customise existing themes based on client requirements
- Convert Figma or design concepts into responsive Shopify pages
- Design and improve product pages, collection pages, landing pages and homepages
- Create clean, modern and conversion-focused eCommerce layouts
- Improve mobile shopping experiences
- Work on cart, upsell, cross-sell and conversion-focused functionality
- Integrate Shopify apps and third-party tools
- Troubleshoot theme, app and frontend issues
- Improve website speed and frontend performance
- Maintain consistent design systems across the store
The UI/UX Side Matters
We are not looking for someone who simply takes a design and codes it.
We want someone who can look at an eCommerce page and understand:
- Whether the visual hierarchy makes sense
- Whether the CTA is prominent enough
- Whether the product information is easy to scan
- Whether the page feels trustworthy
- Whether the mobile experience is smooth
- Whether too many elements are creating friction
- Whether the layout supports conversion
You should be able to suggest improvements instead of blindly implementing everything you are given.
What We Expect From You
You should have strong working knowledge of:
- Shopify
- Shopify Liquid
- HTML
- CSS
- JavaScript
- Shopify 2.0 architecture
- Metafields and dynamic content
- Theme customisation
- Responsive design
- Cross-browser compatibility
- Shopify app integrations
- Basic performance optimisation
You should also have a strong understanding of:
- eCommerce UI/UX
- Conversion-focused design
- Product page structure
- Collection page usability
- Mobile-first design
- Visual hierarchy
- Typography and spacing
- CTA placement
- Navigation and information architecture
Design Tools
Experience with the following is preferred:
- Figma
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Canva
Figma knowledge is especially important.
You do not need to be a full-time graphic designer, but you should be comfortable creating and refining clean website layouts.
You’ll Be a Strong Fit If
You care about the small details.
You notice when spacing is inconsistent.
You understand why a button should be above the fold.
You know when a page looks visually impressive but is difficult to shop.
You think about the customer journey before adding another section.
You can balance aesthetics with conversion.
And when you build something, you test it properly across desktop and mobile instead of assuming it works.
Bonus Points If You
- Have experience working with D2C brands
- Have built premium or luxury eCommerce websites
- Understand CRO
- Know basic SEO principles for Shopify
- Have experience with page builders
- Understand Shopify app conflicts
- Can work with APIs or custom integrations
- Have experience with Git
- Understand accessibility and usability best practices
- Can create reusable Shopify sections that clients can manage easily
What Your Work Will Be Judged On
