- Patient assessment and care planning: Nurses evaluate a patient's health status, create individualized care plans, and adjust them as needed.
- Medication administration: They administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, monitoring for effectiveness and side effects.
- Patient monitoring: Staff continuously monitor patients' vital signs, symptoms, and progress, recording any changes and reporting them to the healthcare team.
- Documentation: They maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation of all patient care, treatments, and progress.
- Education and support: Nurses educate patients and their families about their health conditions, treatment plans, and preventive care. They also provide emotional support.
- Collaboration: They work closely with doctors, other nurses, therapists, and healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Procedures and treatments: This includes assisting with medical procedures, performing wound care, and applying dressings.
- Advocacy: They act as advocates for patients, ensuring their rights are protected and their needs are met.

- Emergency care: Responding to medical emergencies and providing immediate care.
- Infection control: Implementing and following protocols to prevent the spread of infection.
- Supervision: Senior nurses may supervise and mentor junior nurses and nursing students.
- Patient admission and discharge: Overseeing the administrative and care-related processes for patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
