- Patient care- Prepare patients for exams, position them, and support them through treatment
- Imaging- Use radiographic equipment to take images of the body, and ensure the images are high quality
- Radiation safety- Monitor equipment for malfunctions, and minimize the radiation dose to patients
- Treatment planning- Work with doctors to plan treatments, and assess patients during treatment and follow-up appointments
- Communication- Answer phone calls from patients and doctors, and provide guidance before procedures
- Quality assurance- Participate in quality assurance procedures, and report any defects or problems
- Professional development- Keep up to date with current techniques, and participate in training
- Health and safety- Follow health and safety guidelines, and ensure the work area is clean and safe
Radiographers often work in private or public hospitals, medical centers, and specialist clinics.
