Job Summary
Responsible for the end-to-end management of IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) environments. This role focuses on ensuring the seamless deployment, high availability, and secure operation of application server infrastructure that supports critical business applications. The candidate will handle everything from initial setup to complex troubleshooting and performance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Installation & Configuration: Execute the installation and configuration of IBM WebSphere Application Server (Base/ND/Liberty) on various operating systems (Linux/Unix/Windows). Set up Profiles, Nodes, Deployment Managers, and manage cell topology. Administration & Monitoring: Perform daily administration of WAS environments, including starting/stopping services, deploying application EAR/WAR files, and managing clusters and workload leveling. Monitor system health using tools like IBM Tivoli, Dynatrace, or native consoles to ensure 99.9% uptime. SSL Setup & Certificate Management: Implement and manage end-to-end SSL/TLS security for WAS. Handle KeyStore/TrustStore creation, Certificate Signing Request (CSR) generation, and the renewal/importing of digital certificates to ensure secure data transmission. Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Identify, analyze, and resolve platform-level issues. Troubleshoot recurring problems such as hung threads and memory leaks (analyzing heap/thread dumps). Provide detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for high-priority incidents. Repository Maintenance: Maintain and update the technical repository, including version control for configuration scripts, installation guides, and environment diagrams. Ensure all operational runbooks are current. Periodical Reporting: Generate and present periodic reports on environment health, resource utilization (JVM usage), patch levels, and incident trends to management.
Skill Requirements
Technical Skills & Requirements IBM WebSphere: Proficiency in WAS Network Deployment (ND) administration, including cell/node management and workload leveling. Security: Deep understanding of SSL/TLS protocols, CipherSpecs, and IBM IKEYMAN/gskcmd tools. Scripting: Ability to automate administrative tasks using Jython (wsadmin), Jacl, or Shell scripting. Operating Systems: Solid command-line experience in Linux/Unix environments for log analysis and process management. Web Servers: Familiarity with IBM HTTP Server (IHS) and plugin configurations.
Other Requirements
Education: Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Experience: 3–5 years of hands-on experience in WAS administration in a production environment. Certifications (Preferred): IBM Certified System Administrator - WebSphere Application Server.
