Job Description: Mechanical Engineer
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer for road construction projects in hilly terrain. The candidate will be responsible for managing site machinery, plant, equipment, vehicles, repairs, maintenance, and mechanical support required for smooth execution of highway and structure works.
The role requires practical site experience with construction equipment used in road projects such as excavators, loaders, tippers, graders, rollers, compressors, concrete mixers, batching plants, crushers, DG sets, and other site machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain all construction machinery, vehicles, and equipment at site.
- Ensure proper functioning of excavators, JCBs, loaders, tippers, rollers, graders, cranes, compressors, DG sets, batching plant, crusher plant, concrete equipment, and other site machinery.
- Plan preventive maintenance schedules to reduce breakdowns and downtime.
- Attend machinery breakdowns quickly, especially in difficult hilly terrain locations.
- Maintain records of equipment deployment, diesel consumption, spare parts, repairs, servicing, and breakdown history.
- Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, operators, mechanics, vendors, and workshop teams.
- Ensure availability of machinery as per project requirement and daily work planning.
- Monitor fuel efficiency, equipment utilization, and operator performance.
- Arrange spare parts, lubricants, tyres, filters, tools, and consumables as required.
- Ensure safe operation of machinery on slopes, narrow hill roads, curves, and difficult access areas.
- Support plant operations including crusher plant, batching plant, and concrete production equipment.
- Check machinery logbooks, service records, fitness documents, insurance, permits, and statutory compliance.
- Prepare daily and monthly mechanical reports for management.
Required Qualification & Experience
- Diploma or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in road construction, highway, bridge, or infrastructure projects preferred.
- Practical knowledge of heavy construction equipment and plant machinery.
- Experience in hilly road projects will be an added advantage.
- Ability to handle site machinery independently and coordinate with multiple teams.
