Transforming Businesses: Developing customised, next-generation products and services that help clients shift to new business models designed for today's connected landscape of disruptive technologies.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Overview
Own and lead large-scale AWS cloud architecture advisory programs for enterprise clients — setting the overall architecture vision, governance approach, and delivery strategy. Serve as the executive trusted advisor to CTO, CIO, and senior technology leaders, translating complex AWS architecture decisions into clear business outcomes. Define the target-state AWS architecture across multi-account environments, establishing Control Tower configurations, Landing Zone designs, and organisational policies that set the standards teams work within.
Shape the cloud security architecture stance for client engagements — setting Zero Trust principles, IAM governance models, network segmentation strategy, and policy-as-code frameworks that downstream teams implement.
Define the FinOps strategy and financial governance model for client AWS estates — setting commitment frameworks, chargeback and showback models, and multi-year cost optimisation roadmaps using AWS Cost Explorer, AWS Budgets, and Trusted Advisor. Own the quantification of cost savings and present these to CFO and CIO-level stakeholders.
Set the IaC and platform engineering standards for client engagements — defining governance, tooling choices (CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform), and architectural patterns that ensure consistency and scalability. Own the observability architecture strategy, defining monitoring frameworks across CloudWatch, X-Ray, and third-party platforms such as Datadog and Dynatrace.
Beyond core AWS architecture, shape how the practice engages across adjacent areas — defining the AI-ready cloud foundation for AI and agentic workloads using SageMaker, Bedrock, AgentCore, and Amazon Q; setting the cloud architecture standards that Tech Modernization and Technology Resiliency colleagues build upon; and leading ecosystem advisory covering hyperscaler alliance strategy, ISV/MSP rationalisation, and vendor commercial model evaluation.
Lead business development activities including RFP and RFI responses, solutioning for large cloud architecture and transformation programs, client presentations at CTO/CIO level. Shape and evolve cloud architecture advisory offerings, reference architectures, and methodologies that strengthen the practice.
Build practice capability through asset development, methodologies, and points of view.
Qualifications
Educational Background
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline. A Master's degree (MBA, MSc in Cloud Computing, or equivalent) is preferred, particularly when paired with deep experience in cloud architecture advisory and enterprise technology strategy.
Certifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
Other Certifications — Good-to-have
- Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
14+ years of relevant experience in consulting, cloud infrastructure, or enterprise technology organisations. At least 6 years leading cloud architecture strategy and advisory engagements for enterprise clients, with a demonstrated track record of executive-level advisory, program leadership, and practice development.
Proven experience owning the end-to-end AWS architecture vision for large transformation programs — setting target-state designs, defining multi-account Landing Zone and Control Tower standards, and governing architecture quality across delivery teams.
Deep experience shaping cloud security posture for enterprise clients — defining Zero Trust frameworks, IAM governance models, policy-as-code strategies, and compliance-aware architecture patterns at program level.
Experience defining and owning FinOps strategy for large AWS estates — building multi-year cost models, setting commitment frameworks, quantifying savings, and presenting financial outcomes to CFO and CIO-level stakeholders.
Experience leading cross-capability cloud architecture programs spanning AI infrastructure, application modernisation, and technology resiliency — positioning the cloud platform as the foundational layer across adjacent workstreams.
Demonstrated experience advising clients on AI and agentic AI infrastructure at a strategic level — defining AI-ready landing zones, GPU environment strategy, and platform choices across SageMaker, Bedrock, AgentCore, and Amazon Q.
Demonstrated track record leading business development — shaping RFPs, building commercial relationships, driving account growth, and developing cloud architecture advisory offerings that differentiate the practice.
Key Competencies & Skills
FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES
Executive presence, storytelling, and synthesis — able to advise CTO, CIO, and CFO-level stakeholders on cloud architecture strategy, platform choices, and investment decisions, translating technical complexity into clear strategic narratives.
Cloud architecture strategy and roadmap development — able to assess current-state cloud estates, identify architecture gaps, define target-state designs, and build pragmatic transformation roadmaps aligned to business priorities.
Structured problem-solving under ambiguity — able to frame cloud architecture challenges, evaluate trade-offs across cost, performance, security, and resilience dimensions, and produce actionable recommendations.
Financial and commercial acumen — able to build cloud business cases, evaluate hyperscaler commercial models, quantify FinOps value levers, and support investment decisions across cloud platform choices.
