Role Purpose
The Business Development Executive is responsible for identifying, approaching, and converting prospective SMB clients across Tamil Nadu into Perficient engagements. This is a field-intensive, relationship-driven role that requires confidence, discipline, and genuine curiosity about business problems. You are not selling a product — you are opening doors to consulting conversations that help business owners grow.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prospecting & Lead Generation

Cold Outreach
- Make a minimum of 5 targeted cold calls per day to SMB owners across TN sectors
- Build and maintain a prospect list of 50+ qualified businesses per month
- Identify decision-makers (owners, MDs, partners) and initiate first contact
- Follow up via WhatsApp voice note or message within 24 hours of unanswered calls
Network Mining
- Leverage JCOM Madurai L 1.0 and Zone 29 network for warm referrals
- Attend JCOM meetings, trade events, and chamber of commerce meets
- Build relationships with CAs, lawyers, and bankers who can refer SMB clients
- Identify and approach prospects through LinkedIn and social media platforms
2. Discovery & Qualification

BHC Meetings
- Schedule and conduct Business Health Checkup (BHC) sessions with prospects
- Use the Perficient BHC questionnaire to identify pain points and growth gaps
- Prepare a brief BHC summary and share findings with the Principal Consultant
- Qualify prospects based on sector fit, revenue size, owner mindset, and urgency
Needs Assessment
- Listen actively to understand the real business problem behind the stated problem
- Map prospect needs to Perficient services (Mystery Shopping, BCS, 3R Model, BHC, etc.)
- Identify budget range and decision timeline during the discovery conversation
3. Proposal & Conversion

- Work with the Principal Consultant to prepare tailored proposals for qualified prospects
- Present proposals clearly, handle objections confidently, and follow up persistently
- Achieve a target of 2 proposals submitted per week from qualified pipeline
Closing
- Follow up on open proposals within 48 hours and maintain momentum
- Negotiate basic terms under the guidance of the Principal Consultant
- Secure signed agreement and advance payment before handing over to delivery
4. Pipeline & Reporting

- Submit daily call report via WhatsApp to the Principal Consultant by 6:30 PM
- Submit weekly BD summary report every Saturday by 5:00 PM

- Gather and share market intelligence on competitor activity and sector trends
- Report on objections frequently encountered and suggest messaging improvements
- Flag high-potential sectors or geographies observed during fieldwork

Compensation Structure
Fixed Salary
₹15,000 – ₹20,000 per month (based on experience)
Probation Salary
₹12,000 per month for first 3 months
Performance Incentive
5% of first month's engagement fee for every new client closed
Travel Allowance
Actuals reimbursed for pre-approved outstation travel within Tamil Nadu
Incentive Payment
Paid monthly along with salary, post client advance confirmation
Review Cycle
Salary review at end of probation and annually thereafter
Skills & Qualifications
Required
- Graduate in any discipline (Business, Commerce, or Marketing preferred)
- 1–3 years of B2B sales, field sales, or business development experience
- Fluent in Tamil; working knowledge of English for written communication
- Strong interpersonal skills — confident, persuasive, and genuinely curious
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently in the field
- Comfortable with daily reporting and maintaining a pipeline tracker
- Own two-wheeler and valid driving licence for local and outstation travel
Preferred
- Prior exposure to consulting, financial services, or professional B2B sales
- Existing network among SMB owners, traders, or business associations in TN
- Familiarity with LinkedIn, WhatsApp Business, and basic MS Excel
- Understanding of business concepts like margins, cash flow, or operations
