Job Summary
Role Summary The Storage Engineer (L1) provides first-level support for enterprise storage infrastructure, ensuring availability, monitoring system health, handling routine operational activities, and escalating issues when required. The role involves supporting SAN, NAS, backup systems, and storage-related incidents while adhering to SLA and operational procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Storage Monitoring & Operations Monitor storage infrastructure using approved monitoring tools. Identify and respond to storage alerts and system notifications. Perform routine health checks and daily operational tasks. Monitor storage utilization and report capacity issues. Incident & Service Request Management Handle L1 storage-related incidents and service requests. Perform initial troubleshooting and issue diagnosis. Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 teams as per escalation matrix. Ensure tickets are updated and resolved within SLA timelines. SAN & NAS Support Provide basic support for SAN and NAS environments. Assist in storage provisioning activities under supervision. Verify storage connectivity and access issues. Support zoning and masking verification activities. Backup Monitoring Monitor backup and recovery jobs. Identify backup failures and perform basic troubleshooting. Escalate recurring or critical backup issues. Generate backup status reports. Documentation & Reporting Update operational logs, runbooks, and documentation. Maintain ticket records and incident reports. Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports. Follow change management and documentation standards. Compliance & Security Adhere to organizational security policies and procedures. Support audit and compliance activities. Ensure storage operations follow defined SOPs and standards. Required Technical Skills Storage Fundamentals Basic understanding of SAN and NAS technologies. Knowledge of storage concepts such as LUNs, Volumes, RAID, and Storage Pools. Familiarity with enterprise storage platforms. Backup Technologies Basic understanding of backup and recovery processes. Exposure to tools like Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, or Commvault. Operating Systems Windows Server (Basic Administration) Linux Operating System (Basic Commands) Monitoring Tools Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools. Knowledge of alert management and event monitoring. IT Service Management Basic understanding of Incident, Problem, and Change Management. Knowledge of ITIL processes. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 0–2 years of experience in Storage Operations or Infrastructure Support. Freshers with relevant certifications and internship experience may also apply. Preferred Certifications ITIL Foundation Dell EMC Associate Certification NetApp Certified Technology Associate (NCTA) Basic Storage Administration Certifications Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
