The Land Surveyor is responsible for performing precise land surveys and providing accurate quantity measurements to support building construction projects. This role combines traditional surveying duties such as establishing boundaries, tracks, pilling points, control points, and elevations with quantity surveying tasks including measurement of works, material estimation, and cost tracking. The Land Surveyor ensures all site measurements, layouts, and quantities are accurate, documented, and aligned with project specifications and budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct topographic, boundary, and construction layout surveys for the project site.
- Establish horizontal and vertical control points for accurate site layout and construction reference.
- Provide precise coordinates and elevations for foundations, columns, walls, utilities, and other structures.
- Prepare and maintain detailed survey drawings, field notes, and as-built records.
- Operate total stations, GPS, levels, and other surveying instruments to collect and verify site data.
- Collaborate with manager and engineers to ensure the correct interpretation of design drawings and layouts.
- Monitor site progress and perform as-built surveys to confirm compliance with design and specifications.
- Use survey data to calculate accurate quantities of earthworks, concrete, steel, masonry, and finishing materials.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and material estimates directly from field measurements and as-built data.
- Assist in preparing bills of quantities (BOQ) and progress payment certificates as per levels and relevant data.
- Verify contractor claims and work progress based on actual site measurements if needed.
- Support cost control by comparing design quantities with as-built quantities.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Surveying/diploma in Surveying /Civil Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in surveying in building construction projects.
- Proficient in the use of total stations, GPS, levels, and digital survey instruments.
- Strong skills in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and surveying software.
- Good knowledge of quantity surveying principles.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret architectural, MEP and structural drawings.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
Preferred Attributes:
- Experience in high-rise, residential, or commercial building projects.
- Familiarity with BIM and digital quantity take-off tools.
- Understanding of construction contracts and cost control methods.
