Spare Parts Manager oversees the inventory, procurement, and distribution of motorcycle and scooter components. They coordinate with service technicians and suppliers to ensure timely availability of parts, drive departmental profitability, and manage showroom or service center stock levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels of fast-moving and slow-moving two-wheeler components to prevent stock-outs or overstocking. Track inward/outward entries, perform physical audits, and manage obsolete parts.
- Procurement & Vendor Relations: Place timely orders with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and aftermarket suppliers. Negotiate prices, track shipments, and resolve backorders.
- Service Coordination: Work closely with workshop managers to ensure mechanics have the exact parts required for scheduled maintenance and repair jobs.
- Sales & Pricing: Update part prices in line with procurement costs and market demands. Drive parts sales to walk-in customers and wholesale buyers to hit departmental revenue targets.
- Team Leadership: Hire, train, and supervise parts department staff. Handle billing, invoicing, and customer warranty claims.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Typically requires 2 to 5+ years of experience in spare parts management, preferably within a two-wheeler or automotive dealership/service center.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of two-wheeler components, Electronic Parts Catalogues (EPC), and vehicle model years.
- Systems Skills: Proficiency in inventory management software, dealer management systems (DMS), and spreadsheet tools like Microsoft Excel.
- Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills to deal with various suppliers and customer complaints.
