Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance and Repairs
- Perform routine inspection, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hospital electrical systems.
- Repair faulty wiring, lighting fixtures, switches, sockets, UPS, and generators.
- Maintain electrical panels, distribution boards, and earthing systems.
- Ensure uninterrupted power supply to critical hospital areas like ICU, Operation Theatre (OT), Cath Lab, and emergency wards.
2. Installation and Upgrades
- Install new electrical systems, wiring, and outlets as per hospital requirements.
- Support installation of biomedical and diagnostic equipment (CT, MRI, ECG, monitors, etc.) with engineering teams.
- Assist in upgrading electrical infrastructure for new hospital facilities or renovations.
3. Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to hospital safety standards, NABH/NABL guidelines, and electrical codes (IE rules).
- Maintain fire safety systems, alarm panels, and emergency lighting.
- Conduct preventive maintenance schedules and document reports properly.
- Report potential electrical hazards immediately and take corrective action.
4. Emergency Response
- Respond promptly to electrical emergencies, power failures, or short circuits.
- Operate and maintain backup generators, inverters, and UPS systems during power outages.
- Provide on-call support after hours, weekends, and holidays when required.
5. Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain logbooks of electrical inspections, maintenance activities, and equipment performance.
- Coordinate with external vendors for major repairs or AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts).
- Support energy-saving initiatives and help monitor hospital power consumption.
Qualifications and Skills:
- ITI / Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience as an electrician, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.
- Good knowledge of HT/LT systems, UPS, DG sets, and medical equipment electrical requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Awareness of safety procedures and electrical code compliance.
