Daily Operation Start up, monitor, and shut down RO plant per SOP (pre-treatment, HP pump, membrane skids, post-treatment) Monitor and log key parameters every shift: feed/permeate/reject pressure, flow rates, recovery %, conductivity/TDS, pH, SDI, ORP Adjust valves and flow rates to maintain target recovery and flux without exceeding membrane limits Respond to alarms (high pressure, low flow, high conductivity) and take corrective action Pre-treatment Management Operate and monitor pre-treatment systems: multimedia filters, ACF, softener, cartridge filters, UF (if present) Perform backwashing of filters as per schedule or differential pressure triggers Check and top up chemical dosing (antiscalant, SMBS/dechlorination, pH correction) tanks Verify residual chlorine before and after dechlorination Membrane Care Monitor normalized permeate flow and salt rejection to detect fouling/scaling trends Perform or assist with CIP (clean-in-place) as per schedule or when normalized performance drops Log CIP chemicals used, duration, and pre/post CIP readings Report abnormal pressure drop (fouling) or salt passage increase (scaling/damage) to supervisor Chemical Handling Prepare and dose antiscalant, acid/caustic (pH adjustment), and cleaning chemicals per instructions Handle chemicals per MSDS/PPE requirements Maintain chemical stock levels and raise indents Lab & Quality Checks Conduct basic field tests: pH, conductivity/TDS, free chlorine, occasionally hardness/SDI Collect samples for lab analysis as scheduled Record readings in logbooks/SCADA and flag deviations Equipment & Maintenance Monitor pumps, motors, valves, and instrumentation for abnormal noise, vibration, or leaks Perform basic preventive maintenance (greasing, filter changes, strainer cleaning) Report equipment malfunctions to maintenance team; assist with troubleshooting Ensure high-pressure pump and membrane housing integrity checks Safety & Housekeeping Follow lockout-tagout and confined space protocols where applicable Maintain cleanliness of plant area, dosing stations, and chemical storage Wear appropriate PPE during chemical handling and maintenance activities Documentation & Reporting Maintain shift logs, daily production reports (permeate volume, recovery, chemical consumption) Report shift handover notes to incoming operator Escalate critical deviations (membrane damage, pump failure, quality excursions) immediately to shift supervisor
