Product Designer – Furniture Design
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Product Designer with a strong background in furniture design, product development, and team management. The ideal candidate should possess deep knowledge of furniture construction, materials, manufacturing processes, and design software while being capable of leading and mentoring a team of designers.
This role requires a balance of creativity, technical expertise, leadership, and practical manufacturing knowledge to drive furniture products from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Product Design team, ensuring timely delivery of design projects.
- Develop innovative furniture concepts aligned with market trends, customer requirements, and brand standards.
- Oversee the complete product development lifecycle from concept sketches to production-ready designs.
- Review and approve 3D models, technical drawings, specifications, and prototypes created by team members.
- Create and refine furniture designs using SolidWorks, Rhino, Blender, KeyShot, or similar design software.
- Ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet quality standards.
- Apply strong knowledge of carpentry, joinery techniques, ergonomics, and material selection in product development.
- Coordinate closely with production, procurement, and management teams to ensure seamless execution.
- Guide prototype development, testing, and design improvements based on feedback and performance.
- Establish design standards, workflows, and best practices within the team.
- Mentor junior designers and support their technical and professional development.
- Maintain accurate design documentation, BOMs, specifications, and revision records.
- Monitor project timelines, resource allocation, and team productivity.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Product Design, Industrial Design, Furniture Design, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in furniture product design.
- Strong expertise in furniture design principles, construction methods, and manufacturing processes.
- Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, Rhino, Blender, KeyShot, or similar 3D design and visualization software.
- Excellent technical drawing and detailing skills.
- Strong understanding of wood, metal, upholstery, hardware, laminates, veneers, and other furniture materials.
- Practical knowledge of carpentry, joinery systems, and production feasibility.
- Experience managing design teams and coordinating cross-functional projects.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
