Job Summary
The Concrete Sleeper Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the complete manufacturing operations of the concrete sleeper plant, ensuring production targets, quality standards, safety compliance, manpower management, maintenance activities, and cost control are achieved efficiently.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Management
- Plan and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production of concrete sleepers.
- Ensure achievement of production targets as per railway specifications and tender requirements.
- Optimize plant productivity and minimize downtime.
- Monitor casting, curing, demoulding, stacking, and dispatch operations.
Quality Control
- Ensure compliance with railway and quality standards.
- Monitor concrete mix design, raw material quality, and production processes.
- Coordinate with quality assurance teams for inspections and testing.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions for quality issues.
Plant Maintenance
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery.
- Ensure availability and proper functioning of batching plant, moulds, cranes, compressors, and other equipment.
- Reduce equipment downtime through effective maintenance planning.
Manpower Management
- Supervise production staff, supervisors, operators, technicians, and laborers.
- Allocate manpower efficiently across shifts.
- Conduct training and performance evaluations.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and company policies.
- Conduct regular safety audits and toolbox talks.
- Maintain statutory and environmental compliance requirements.
Inventory & Material Management
- Monitor stock levels of cement, aggregates, steel wires, admixtures, and consumables.
- Coordinate with stores and procurement departments for timely material availability.
- Control material wastage and optimize resource utilization.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare daily production reports, quality reports, and maintenance reports.
- Maintain production records and plant performance data.
- Submit MIS reports to management.
Cost Control
- Monitor production costs and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Improve operational efficiency and reduce wastage.
Required Qualifications
- B.Tech / Diploma in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Production Engineering.
- Experience in concrete sleeper manufacturing, precast concrete, construction materials, or railway infrastructure projects.
Experience
- 8–15 years of manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role in a concrete sleeper plant or precast concrete industry.
